The shares of defense technology firm VINCORION have reclaimed their footing above the EUR 17.00 IPO price, trading near EUR 18.00 after a brief dip. This recovery coincides with the company's first major operational milestone as a public entity: the launch of its SENTINEL field test program on April 19.

Stabilization Phase Concludes

A key chapter of the initial public offering process has now closed. Lead bank J.P. Morgan concluded its official market stabilization activities in mid-April. The bank partially exercised the Greenshoe option on April 17, acquiring approximately 2.1 million shares at the offer price. Prior to that, J.P. Morgan had supported the price by purchasing nearly 300,000 shares worth around EUR 5 million. The stock's subsequent performance, including a roughly twelve percent gain over seven days, will now be a true test of independent investor confidence.

This shift is accompanied by a notable change in shareholder structure. The Greenshoe option held by majority shareholder STAR Capital is set to expire. If unused, this will permanently reduce STAR Capital's voting rights stake below 50 percent. For its remaining stake of nearly 48 percent, a lock-up period is in effect, preventing any major disposals before autumn 2026. The increased free float makes the stock more attractive to large institutional funds.

Operational Momentum Builds

Beyond the trading floor, VINCORION is demonstrating its technological capabilities. The EU-funded SENTINEL project, which aims to develop autonomous power supplies for mobile field camps, commenced testing on April 19. VINCORION is supplying two core components: a generator module and an energy storage module, each with 50 kilowatts of capacity. Initial tests are being conducted with the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, with follow-ups planned in the Netherlands and Aruba to prove the systems under extreme climatic conditions. The project is seen as a potential gateway to NATO procurement programs.

The company's financial foundation provides a solid backdrop for these developments. For the 2025 fiscal year, revenue grew 18 percent to EUR 240.3 million. Net profit doubled to EUR 19.4 million, while EBIT surged 64 percent to EUR 33.7 million. An order backlog of EUR 1.1 billion provides visibility, with a 55 percent aftermarket share—covering maintenance and spare parts for clients like Rheinmetall and KNDS—delivering stable margins.

Valuation and the Upcoming Test

In a sector known for rich valuations, VINCORION trades at a noticeable discount. Based on its 2025 earnings, its price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stands at 46. This compares to 95 for HENSOLDT, 53 for Renk, and a triple-digit multiple for Rheinmetall.

The next critical data point arrives in May with the release of VINCORION's first quarterly report as a publicly traded company. Management has set a 2026 revenue target of between EUR 280 and 320 million. Notably, this growth is intended to be self-financed, supported by an operational cash flow of EUR 38 million, as no fresh capital flowed to the company during the IPO. The report will be scrutinized for evidence that the growth trajectory is sustainable without banking support and whether rising global defense budgets are translating into tangible new orders.
