2G Energy: Board-Linked Buying and a Three-Way Analyst Split Overshadow a 5% Slide
Published on 11/01/2026 at 21:20 | Editorial boerse-global.deShares in 2G Energy came under pressure on Friday, slipping 5.0% to €46.10 as media coverage tied the weakness to mounting doubts over the durability of AI-related investment. The reports pointed to soft outlooks from Intel and Amazon and placed the combined heat and power specialist in that same basket of AI beneficiaries now facing renewed scrutiny.
The stock's retreat, however, sits alongside a far more mixed company-specific picture. Media accounts also cited the half-year report and a sell recommendation from Parmantier & Cie as drags on sentiment.
First Berlin Sticks to Its Bull Case
Against that gloom, First Berlin Equity Research reaffirmed its buy rating and €83.00 price target on 26 October. Its analysis drew on the capital markets day and the half-year report, with the broker concluding that the final first-half figures confirmed the preliminary numbers published earlier.
First Berlin identified data centres, biogas, gas reserve power plants and large-scale heat pumps as the company's growth engines. It also highlighted that capacity is fully booked through mid-2028.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying 2G Energy?
Even so, the broker acknowledged the tension in the story: it cited the low first-half EBIT margin and the heavy reliance of the full-year forecast on the second half. According to the analysis, 2G Energy at the time confirmed its 2026 revenue guidance of €440m to €490m and continued to hold out an EBIT margin of 9.5% to 10.5%.
A Sell Call Built on Second-Half Risk
A sharply different view emerged roughly two weeks ago, when media reports said another study reiterated a sell recommendation with a €39.00 target. That analysis flagged risks to the 2026 forecast, pointing to how much of the annual guidance depends on the second half. Among the figures it cited was an EBIT margin of 0.6% in the first half of 2026, and it leaned on the half-year report and Energy Vault documentation.
Pareto Securities, by contrast, had upgraded 2G Energy to buy about two weeks earlier with a €62.00 target — placing the stock between a €39 bear and an €83 bull.
Insiders Step In
While the analysts argued, a company close to supervisory board member Dr. Lukas Lenz was buying. SHH Spring Hunter Holdings GmbH reported purchases totalling 2,550 shares on 16 October across three trading venues, with 2G publishing the required notifications on 19 October.
