2G Energy Slides 5% as AI Doubts Dent a Stock Riding Data-Centre Demand
Published on 11/01/2026 at 02:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deA wave of unease across the AI trade washed over 2G Energy on Friday, sending the combined heat and power specialist down 5.0% to €46.10. The company had won major orders tied to AI data centres and expects further bookings from that arena — which is precisely why a broader rethink on AI beneficiaries left the stock exposed. Media coverage framed the pressure as sector-wide sentiment rather than any fresh corporate disclosure.
Two Reports and a Sell Rating in the Mix
The same coverage pointed to the half-year report published roughly two weeks earlier, alongside a reaffirmed sell recommendation, as additional drags. The picture on the analyst side is anything but uniform. First Berlin Equity Research restated its buy rating on Monday, keeping an €83.00 price target and citing the capital markets day and the half-year report as context. Parmantier & Cie. took the opposite view about two weeks ago, confirming a sell call with a €39.00 target; the firm's argument rests on 2026 guidance leaning heavily on the second half, and its assessment was based on the 2026 half-year report.
On the bullish side of the ledger, Pareto Securities upgraded 2G Energy to "Buy" around two weeks ago with a €62.00 target, according to the company. The rationale: a breakthrough in the data-centre business and stronger earnings expectations.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying 2G Energy?
Heartbeat AI to Run the Plants
The data-centre thread runs through the hardware as well. 2G has lined up a technology partnership with 1KOMMA5°, whose Heartbeat AI platform is slated to control 2G's CHP and gas-to-power units. According to 1KOMMA5°, the collaboration targets power supply for data centres, industry and the Mittelstand — the very segment whose large orders the media report linked to the AI jitters.
Insiders Step In
Directors and related parties have been buying. SHH Spring Hunter Holdings GmbH disclosed on 19 October a purchase of 500 shares executed on 16 October, a transaction worth €23,510.00; the mandatory filing assigns the company to a person closely associated with supervisory board member Lukas Lenz. Separately, 2G Energy management board member Friedrich Pehle acquired 100 shares at €56 each on 13 October through a joint account.
