Almonty's Tungsten Bet Comes Into Focus as Corporate Overhaul Nears Completion

The tungsten producer's transformation is entering its final stretch, and the market is taking notice. Almonty Industries closed Thursday's session at $14.36, having swung between $13.07 and $14.38 on volume of 9.33 million shares — comfortably ahead of the 8.05 million average. The roughly 10 percent rebound from the day's low lands in a week when the company is redrawing its corporate architecture from top to bottom.
The volatility is nothing new for a stock that has traded anywhere from $3.97 to $24.41 over the past 52 weeks. Almonty is mid-transition from a development-stage miner into a revenue-generating producer, and the market has been pricing in that evolution with sharp swings.
A Clean Break From Canada — and Australia
The corporate migration southward is nearly complete. After announcing its exit from the Toronto Stock Exchange on July 20, Almonty's delisting took effect at the close of trading on July 31. The company has now formally relocated its headquarters to Dillon, Montana. Down under, the Australian Securities Exchange has approved a voluntary withdrawal, with trading in the company's Australian depositary interests ending August 28 and delisting effective September 1. Management's rationale: volumes in Australia were thin and shrinking relative to the Nasdaq, which will now serve as the company's sole listing venue.
The paperwork is keeping pace with the relocation. On August 4, the board approved revised compensation plans for management, and two days later the company filed the corresponding documents with the SEC. The August 7 filing — a post-effective amendment to Form S-8 — covers three programs: the Omnibus Equity Incentive Plan from April 2025, the fourth amended stock option plan, and the amended restricted share unit plan, both last adjusted on August 4. The changes involve a recalculation of fees tied to these plans and are designed to more closely align management incentives with US investors. Administrative fine-tuning, to be sure, but consistent with the broader push toward a US-centric capital structure.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Almonty?
Institutional Churn Meets Analyst Conviction
The same week brought news that SEI Investments trimmed its stake substantially. The asset manager cut its position by 56 percent during the first quarter, selling 274,430 shares and leaving it with 216,039 shares valued at roughly $3.13 million. The disclosure went public on August 8.
Sell-side sentiment, however, remains firmly constructive. Nine analysts collectively rate the stock a "Strong Buy," with a 12-month average price target of $25.02 — implying upside of around 76 percent from current levels.
Sangdong Takes Center Stage
The operational story hinges on South Korea. Almonty's Sangdong tungsten mine in Gangwon Province shifted into active processing in July, with the newly commissioned processing plant now converting stockpiled material into saleable tungsten concentrate.
The commercial picture has strengthened accordingly. Almonty extended its offtake agreement with Global Tungsten & Powders by six years, stretching the contract term from 15 to 21 years from the initial delivery date and lifting contracted volumes by 40 percent.
The first quarter offered a taste of what the broader ramp-up could deliver: revenue of C$25.4 million, up 221 percent year over year — though Portugal's Panasqueira mine, not Sangdong, drove the bulk of that growth. To fund the production build-out, Almonty has filed two shelf registrations covering roughly $246.8 million in common shares.
Almonty at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The commodity backdrop is cooperative. Ammonium paratungstate (APT) is currently trading above $3,000 per metric ton unit, giving the company a favorable pricing environment as it scales.
What to Watch Next
The second-quarter report, due in mid-August, will be the first real test of whether Sangdong can match the billing. The key metric: how quickly the operation reaches nameplate capacity. The elevated trading volume this week suggests investors are already repositioning ahead of the print, even as Almonty's shift to a single, US-focused listing structure moves toward its conclusion.
