Alphabet is spreading its capital across three very different frontiers at once — the airspace above Fort Worth, the data-center corridors of Wyoming and Malaysia, and the bond market. Wing, the company's drone-delivery subsidiary, will sink as much as $125 million over two years into a drone manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, according to media reports, and expects to create up to 100 manufacturing jobs there. The facility is designed to roll out tens of thousands of aircraft a year, giving the announcement both a dollar figure and a hard production target.

The drone plan is the smallest line item in a much larger outlay. Google has committed $15 billion to Malaysia's digital infrastructure, an announcement made on Wednesday and reported by the Bernama news agency. On the data-center side, Reuters reported that Google has taken over Crusoe's facility in southeastern Wyoming, following through on a previously announced push to expand artificial-intelligence infrastructure.

The Spending Number That Anchors Everything

For investors, the figure that matters most is capital expenditure. Alphabet reported $51.4 billion of capex in the third quarter of 2026 and reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance of $195 billion to $205 billion. Management expects a further significant increase in 2027 — an expectation, not money already spent.

That spending is being funded partly through debt markets. Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that Alphabet is set to be the recipient of funds from a planned bond carrying an energy prepayment, sized at more than $1.5 billion, with Goldman Sachs arranging the transaction. A closing has not yet been announced.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Alphabet?

A Quarter That Beat on Growth and Missed on Revenue

The third-quarter 2026 results, published October 28, showed consolidated revenue of $127.6 billion, up 25% year on year. Reuters noted that expectations had stood at $128.2 billion. Advertising also came in light: revenue of $82 billion against an estimate of $83.4 billion, a shortfall that triggered a sharp slide in the share price.

Google Cloud told a different story, posting revenue of $30.7 billion — growth of 103%. Google Services revenue rose 11% to $96.3 billion. Diluted earnings per share came in at $2.12. Reuters reported that sales of Tensor Processing Units contributed substantially to Cloud's growth, while investment in chip inventories added further pressure to cash flow.

That pressure showed up in the headline cash metric: free cash flow for the quarter was negative, according to Reuters. Management paired that disclosure with its guidance for a marked step-up in capital spending in 2027.

The Street Trims, but Stays Bullish

Wells Fargo cut its price target on Alphabet on Monday to $365 from $371 while keeping an "Overweight" rating — a lower mark without a downgrade of the investment case. The distinction matters: the bank adjusted its arithmetic, not its view of the business.

Taken together, the pieces describe a company borrowing and building at a pace that its operating cash generation has not yet matched. The drone plant, the Malaysian build-out, the Wyoming handover and the Goldman-arranged bond are all installments in the same program — one that the Cloud division's 103% growth is currently doing the heavy lifting to justify.
