AMD joins the trillion-dollar club after a 10% stock jump, as Q2 revenue rose 50% to $11.54 billion on data-center demand.

Advanced Micro Devices has crossed the trillion-dollar valuation mark for the first time, capping a dramatic transformation that has turned the chipmaker from an also-ran into one of the primary architects of modern AI infrastructure. The milestone came as a fresh wave of enthusiasm over artificial intelligence demand swept through the semiconductor sector, with investors piling into AMD shares on expectations that the appetite for high-performance processors has plenty of room to run.

The stock climbed 10% in the prior session to close at EUR 537.00, making AMD the fourth US chip manufacturer — after Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron — to join the trillion-dollar club. In German trading on Tuesday, the shares consolidated modestly, slipping 1.3% to EUR 530.10. Even with that pause, the equity has gained 192% since the start of the year, one of the standout performances in global markets.

A Decade in the Making

The valuation landmark represents the culmination of a long shift orchestrated by CEO Lisa Su, who took AMD from a distant second-tier player to a serious challenger to Nvidia's dominance in AI accelerators. That repositioning is now visible in the numbers: second-quarter revenue jumped 50% to $11.54 billion, with the data-center division alone generating $6.7 billion — more than half of total group sales.

The growth engine rests on a widening web of partnerships. Cloud heavyweights including Meta, Microsoft and Oracle are increasingly turning to AMD accelerators for their infrastructure buildouts, while generative-AI developers such as Anthropic have also signed supply agreements. Surging demand for inference workloads is simultaneously keeping conventional server CPUs busy, adding a second leg to the company's data-center story.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying AMD?

Wall Street Warms Further

Analysts have largely embraced the narrative, though several flag that valuations are becoming stretched. Piper Sandler reiterated its Overweight rating and suggested AMD could capture 49% of the server-CPU market by 2030. Stifel also threw its weight behind the stock with a $635 price target, citing resilient demand for the company's CPU and GPU lineup.

The bullish chorus was reinforced this week by a new AI agent from Meta Platforms, whose early traction triggered a broader wave of optimism about future chip consumption. Both brokerages pointed to AMD's manufacturing capacity and product pipeline as well positioned to ride the ongoing capital-expenditure boom among technology giants.

Crusoe Loan Extends Ecosystem Reach

Beyond the balance sheet, AMD is working to lock in demand for its processors at the infrastructure level. The company is backing a $300 million loan to Crusoe, an AI-infrastructure startup, according to media reports — a move designed to secure early adoption of AMD silicon in new data centers.

On the insider front, routine transactions were recorded this month. A share sale was executed under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plan, per a mandatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Such trades run automatically to avoid conflicts of interest.

Supply Chain Is the Wild Card

For all the momentum, the operational bar keeps rising. To justify current market expectations, AMD must reliably ramp shipments of its next-generation accelerators. Capacity constraints at semiconductor fabs and power-supply limitations on large-scale global projects are seen as the key variables that will dictate how quickly the broader industry can expand — and, by extension, how far AMD's trillion-dollar valuation can stretch.
