Bajaj Mobility's Vertiginous Climb Leaves Little Room for Error

Bajaj Mobility's stock surges 150% since January, but extreme overbought conditions and missing financial details raise caution ahead of August report.

Bajaj Mobility Rally: Overbought Signals vs. Operational Turnaround

The arithmetic of Bajaj Mobility's 2026 rally is enough to make even seasoned chartists wince. Shares in the Austrian motorcycle group have more than doubled and a half since January, leaving the stock hovering just beneath its 52-week peak with a relative strength index of 92.5 — a reading that screams overbought in any language. The distance from the 50-day moving average of €21.39 stands at 78 percent; versus the 200-day line, the premium stretches to 112 percent. With 30-day annualized volatility running at 75 percent, the trading floor has become a nervous place.

None of this negates the operational progress underneath. The preliminary second-quarter numbers, released this month, showed revenue climbing from €231 million to €370 million, while motorcycle sales across the KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and GASGAS brands outside India jumped 71 percent to 48,672 units. The expected EBITDA margin landed at roughly 8.7 percent — a startling reversal from the minus 55.6 percent posted a year earlier. The first quarter had already hinted at the turn: 40,332 motorcycles sold, up 125.1 percent year on year, with EBITDA swinging to a positive €5.5 million against a €55.8 million loss in the prior-year period.

The balance sheet has also received attention. In February, an international banking consortium extended €550 million in fresh financing, allowing Bajaj Mobility to retire the restructuring credit owed to Bajaj Auto International Holdings in full. Bulls point to that deleveraging, combined with the margin recovery, as evidence that the old crisis-era valuation no longer applies.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bajaj Mobility AG?

Yet the bears have ammunition of their own. The preliminary release conspicuously omitted net debt, cash flow, dealer inventories and net income — precisely the metrics that reveal how much restructuring work remains. Growth rates also flatter to deceive: production in Austria was severely disrupted in the first half of 2025, with several model deliveries delayed and the company deliberately holding back shipments to dealers. The comparison base from that troubled period is exceptionally low.

There is also a reputational overhang. The stock came under pressure earlier in connection with statements by subsidiary KTM regarding a suspected emissions scandal involving Enduro models. Depending on how that matter develops, it could resurface as a headwind.

Friday's session captured the tension neatly: the shares closed at €38.00, up 8.4 percent on the day and 87 percent higher over the past 30 sessions. The market has clearly priced in the positive signals — which raises the stakes for the full half-year report due on August 27. That publication will mark the first detailed look beneath the EBITDA line, with the company promising commentary on profit, cash flow, debt, inventory levels and the progress of its cost-saving program.

Should the technical dynamics crack first — a falling RSI exiting extreme overbought territory, for instance — a pullback toward the moving averages would be the natural path. That would not necessarily invalidate the fundamental recovery story. But with the stock trading so far ahead of its own fundamentals, the August 27 numbers will determine whether the current valuation rests on substance or on momentum that has simply run too far, too fast.
