Circus SE Debuts Gulf Operations as Abu Dhabi Launch Takes Shape
Published on 09/23/2026 at 14:20 | Editorial boerse-global.deCircus SE has crossed its first frontier beyond Europe, switching on commercial operations in the United Arab Emirates. The German food-robotics group confirmed the rollout began yesterday, with Abu Dhabi serving as the beachhead and Dubai earmarked as the next stop.
The move rides on a tie-up with regional catering specialist Royal Prestige Food Contracts, a partner that turns out more than three million meals a year. Its client roster reads like a Gulf establishment roll-call: the royal household, the emirates' armed forces and ministries, state oil giant ADNOC, and the Red Crescent.
Under the arrangement, Circus's autonomous robots will draw their ingredients entirely from Royal Prestige's supply chain. The two sides also intend to build the company's so-called Circus Pods locally rather than shipping them in.
Abdallah Youssef, chief executive of Royal Prestige, framed the deal as a first for the region, saying it opens the door to fully autonomous round-the-clock food production in the UAE. For his counterpart at Circus, Nikolas Bullwinkel, the Gulf carries strategic weight — the emirates could rank among the group's most important markets in the medium term.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?
Regulatory Clearance Paved the Way
Before any robot could start cooking, Circus had to clear a regulatory hurdle. The company says it is the first player in food robotics to hold full certification under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS), administered by the UAE's Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
The formal unveiling of the CA-1 robotic system in the region is scheduled for 6 October 2026 at 18:00 local time, at a press event in Abu Dhabi.
Investor attention is also being courted further afield. On Monday, Circus set out its autumn conference calendar, with Bullwinkel due to address market participants at Bank of America's Transforming World Conference and Goldman Sachs' AI Symposium in London. His talks will centre on dual-use robotics and Physical AI, with additional capital-markets presentations in the pipeline.
Share Price and Market Value
The stock has been volatile around the news flow. Today the shares climbed 11% to EUR 1.90, a firmer reading than Tuesday's session, when they added 4.0% to close at EUR 1.71. Circus carries a market capitalisation of EUR 44.17 million.
The Gulf debut caps a stretch of corporate announcements that had otherwise been met with pronounced selling pressure — a contrast with the operational strides the company has been making. Alongside the commercial rollout of the Circus Pods, there have been personnel changes: roughly a month ago a senior executive was appointed to the supervisory board, following a CEO insider purchase reported more than a month earlier.
