Deutsche Bank Research initiated coverage of Vincorion on Monday, handing the small-cap defense technology specialist a "Buy" rating and a price target of €26. Analyst Mira Wiegratz is betting on the company's long-range operating trajectory rather than its recent trading history.

That distinction matters. Vincorion shares changed hands at €18.48 on Monday, up 0.6% on the day, leaving a substantial gap between the market price and the new target. The stock is a recent addition to the small-cap index, and the German broker's entry into coverage puts its medium-term earnings power back in the spotlight after a stretch of subdued price action.

Growth Targets Built on a Strong First Half

The optimistic call rests on the company's long-term outlook. Wiegratz projects average annual revenue growth of 15% through 2030, alongside a medium-term adjusted operating EBIT margin of 20%.

Those forecasts lean on momentum the company has already demonstrated. Roughly two weeks ago, Vincorion published half-year figures for 2026 showing clear business expansion. Revenue climbed 42.4% to €150.2 million in the first six months, while adjusted operating profit improved to €28.4 million — a margin of 18.9%.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vincorion?

Order intake tells a similar story. Vincorion booked €330.2 million in new orders during the half, lifting its total backlog to roughly €1.2 billion. That record figure underpins management's decision to reaffirm full-year 2026 guidance, which calls for revenue of €280 million to €320 million and an adjusted operating EBIT margin of 18% to 19%. Executives are aiming for the upper end of both ranges.

Power Systems and Air Defense Drive the Order Book

The strongest growth engine was the Power Systems segment, where revenue jumped 41.1% to €46.2 million in the first half. Demand has been particularly intense for ground-based air defense systems, which have moved up the priority list for armed forces across multiple countries as the geopolitical security landscape has shifted.

Beyond its existing serial production business, Vincorion is broadening its technological footprint for future defense programs. Under the EU-backed SENTINEL project, the company holds a central role within German industry for the development of advanced tactical energy systems. Order flow has kept pace: in June 2026 alone, the company booked new contracts worth more than €100 million.

The company also returned to positive cash flow after a strained liquidity position in the opening quarter, and management said the execution of its existing order book secures the bulk of planned revenue for the current financial year.

Sector Rotation Has Weighed on the Share Price

None of that has translated into share price strength lately. Defense stocks came under broad selling pressure last Friday as investors rotated capital toward semiconductor and technology names, leaving Vincorion at €18.39 at the close. The shift in portfolio positioning hits defense companies regardless of their operating performance, with market participants favoring technology-sector narratives over near-term defense exposure. Since the half-year report, the stock has fallen 6.0%, and over a 30-day horizon it is down 17%.

What happens next may hinge on when the market turns its attention back to fundamental metrics and filled order books rather than short-term sector reallocations. Deutsche Bank's new coverage offers one early argument for that refocus.
