Deutz has wrapped up its acquisition of Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG), and management is already sketching out what the defence unit is expected to contribute. By 2027 the company is targeting more than EUR 1 billion in additional revenue from the defence business, paired with an adjusted EBITDA margin above 20%.

The closing of the FFG transaction lands alongside a fresh boardroom move: the supervisory board has extended CFO Oliver Neu's contract through 30 September 2032. Neu will also take part in a live round-table on the defence strategy on 10 November 2026, with the 2026 annual report scheduled for release on 30 March 2027.

Third-Quarter Growth Falls Short of Consensus

Revenue in the third quarter of 2026 rose 12.3% to EUR 553.9 million, while adjusted EBIT climbed 23.4% to EUR 38.5 million. Both figures came in below the analyst consensus, according to Dow Jones. Orders in the quarter reached EUR 631.2 million.

The nine-month picture was stronger on the top line. Deutz booked revenue of EUR 1,669.2 million, up from EUR 1,500.4 million a year earlier — an increase of roughly 11%. Order intake ran ahead of sales at EUR 1,962.5 million, compared with EUR 1,504.5 million in the prior-year period, a gain of just over 30%.

Profitability improved in step. Adjusted EBIT for the nine months reached EUR 118.2 million, against EUR 86.9 million previously, a rise of about 36%. The adjusted EBIT margin widened from 5.8% to 7.1%.

Two Buy Ratings, Two Different Price Tags

Berenberg reaffirmed its buy recommendation on Deutz yesterday, keeping its price target at EUR 16.50 unchanged. DZ Bank, by contrast, cut its fair value to EUR 15 from EUR 16 while holding its "Buy" rating — a lower valuation after the quarterly numbers, but no shift in its fundamental stance on the stock.

The shares lost 2.0% yesterday, extending a run of declines that followed the release of the growth figures.
