The gap between EcoGraf's operational progress and its market valuation is getting harder to ignore. While the graphite developer has been quietly clearing hurdles at its Epanko project in Tanzania and locking in strategic partners, the share price has spent much of the year in the doldrums — though the technical picture is now starting to brighten.

Investors have begun to take a fresh look at the stock. On Tuesday, the shares jumped to €0.1550, a gain of roughly 28 percent from the year's low of €0.1204. The Relative Strength Index has climbed to 46.5, pulling the equity out of oversold territory, even as it continues to trade beneath its 50-day moving average of €0.1750. The recovery follows a bruising stretch that has left the stock down around 34 percent on a twelve-month view.

A Strategic Backing That Extends Beyond the Balance Sheet

The recent share-price firming comes as EcoGraf assembles a support network that spans both Europe and Japan. The European Investment Bank has committed a €2.0 million package aimed at accelerating the company's integration into the continent's battery supply chain, with the funds directed toward the technical development of its vertically integrated model.

More significantly, EcoGraf has struck an offtake agreement with Mitsubishi Chemical, under which the Japanese group plans to purchase up to 10,000 tonnes of graphite concentrate annually from Epanko. The deal hands the company a heavyweight partner for its long-term sales ambitions and bolsters its credentials with prospective financiers.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying EcoGraf Ltd?

On the Ground in Tanzania

The groundwork for construction is now visibly underway. EcoGraf has begun issuing compensation payments for the access road that will serve the Epanko site — infrastructure deemed essential to keep the operation reachable during the rainy season. Earthworks and site development can only ramp up fully once those payments are concluded.

The project itself is targeting annual output of 73,000 tonnes of graphite concentrate, though engineers are also studying whether capacity could be expanded beyond that level in response to long-term demand forecasts from battery manufacturers. The capital requirement for the first phase stands at US$105 million, with KfW IPEX-Bank leading negotiations on the financing structure. EcoGraf's own assessment puts the project's net present value at US$516 million — a figure that market watchers say stands in sharp contrast to the company's current market worth.

Technology as a Differentiator

Beyond the mine itself, EcoGraf is leaning on its HFfree purification technology, which allows graphite to be refined without the use of hazardous hydrofluoric acid. The company holds patents in India and is pursuing expansion studies in Europe, positioning the process as a cornerstone of its effort to build a supply chain independent of China. An independent expert report on the technology has already been submitted to potential lenders for review.

EcoGraf Ltd at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The final investment decision remains the pivotal event on the horizon. Management is currently in discussions with international creditors over the credit structure for the coming years, and has signalled that fresh details on long-term offtake negotiations are due in the next quarter. With compensation payments rolling out, a strategic offtake partner secured and financing talks advancing, the pieces are increasingly in place — the question now is whether the market will start pricing them in.
