Evotec's Pipeline Advances as Shareholders Confront a 48% Slide

Evotec has spent the past several weeks assembling a case that its science is worth more than the market is currently paying for it. The Hamburg-based drug developer now has two fresh research milestones to point to, even as its equity continues to search for a floor.
A First-in-Human Step for the Biologics Arm
The most tangible of those milestones belongs to Just – Evotec Biologics, the group's biologics subsidiary. Its antibody cocktail JST-018, directed against orthopoxviruses, has entered a Phase I first-in-human study. The program is being run under the U.S. Department of War's Accelerated Antibodies initiative, extending Evotec's clinical footprint into a government-backed development track. Management frames the achievement as evidence of the technological strength housed within the biologics unit.
Plectonic Deal Targets Solid Tumors
Oncology is the second front. Evotec has struck a research collaboration with Plectonic Biotech that pairs the company's own BiTCo platform with Plectonic's LOGIBODY technology. The joint work is aimed at novel T-cell engager approaches against solid tumors — a therapeutic mechanism the partners hope will open new angles in cancer research.
Drug Discovery Shows Signs of Life
Underneath the pipeline news, the core business is showing tentative signs of recovery. In the Drug Discovery & Preclinical Development segment, sales picked up noticeably year over year. Evotec credits stronger customer activity and more disciplined commercial execution. That rebound matters beyond the current quarter: a healthier research business is the precondition for the development contracts that follow.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Evotec?
Guidance Stays Cautious
The financial picture, however, remains demanding. Evotec expects group revenues of between EUR 570 million and EUR 610 million for 2026, with adjusted group EBITDA projected deep in negative territory. The company confirmed its lowered full-year guidance roughly three weeks ago, a move that has kept pressure on its valuation. CFO Claire Hinshelwood nonetheless maintains that the operating indicators are moving in the right direction and expects future revenue to follow.
A Wider Share Base and a Board Departure
Evotec has also adjusted its corporate structure. Following the issuance of new subscription shares, the total number of voting rights now stands at 177,909,968. The issuance took effect on September 9, and the company reports no multiple voting rights. Separately, Camilla Macapili Languille resigned from the supervisory board on August 7. She had served as an independent member since June 2022 and also sat on the Audit & Compliance Committee.
Boston Appearance Next on the Calendar
Management's next scheduled public engagement comes at the BioProcess International US East 2026 conference in Boston, where Evotec is set to present on September 23 and 24, 2026. The event offers a platform for technical exchange with industry peers, though it arrives at a moment when the market is focused less on conference calendars than on execution.
Market Still Waiting for Proof
Investor skepticism remains visible in the trading tape. The stock changed hands at EUR 2.84 in pre-market activity on Tuesday, down 1.9% on the day, putting the company's market capitalization at EUR 517.80 million. Since the start of the year, the shares have lost 48%. Evotec's appearance at the Morgan Stanley 24th Annual Global Healthcare Conference gave a clearer picture of the business model, but coverage of that presentation dwelled on the stock's persistent weakness and the ongoing strain on revenue and EBITDA. For now, the company's task is to hold its operating discipline steady and see the consolidation through — and to convince investors that the pipeline progress eventually shows up in the numbers.
