Siemens Healthineers has paired a cautious set of annual figures with a fresh push into medical artificial intelligence, signing a strategic cooperation agreement with the Alibaba DAMO Academy on Friday. The two partners intend to combine photon-counting CT imaging with medical AI, aiming the work at the early detection of cancer and cardiovascular disease, according to the companies.

The announcement landed alongside a batch of governance and capital-return news that has kept the German medical-technology group in the spotlight since Thursday's results.

Profit outlook trails the year just closed

For fiscal 2026, Healthineers reported comparable revenue growth of 4.0% and an adjusted EBIT margin of 16.2%. Adjusted unadjusted earnings per share for the completed year came in at €2.42.

Looking to fiscal 2027, the company guided to comparable revenue growth of 4.0–5.0% and adjusted unadjusted EPS of €2.20–2.40. The entire forecast range therefore sits below the figure just reported — a conservative outlook that, together with the mixed annual numbers and persistent weakness in Chinese diagnostics, weighed on the share price on Thursday. Reuters flagged soft demand in the Chinese diagnostics business.

Two houses, two verdicts

Analysts split on the print. Deutsche Bank Research reaffirmed its "Hold" rating and €39 price target on Friday, with analyst Falko Friedrichs calling the final-quarter results mixed and singling out Precision Therapy. Barclays moved the other way, lifting its target to €51 from €47.50 while keeping an "Overweight" rating, dpa-AFX reported. The stock closed Friday at €44.70 — lodged between the two targets.

Olyrian takes shape as breakup costs loom

Behind the guidance sits a planned restructuring. An efficiency programme announced Thursday for fiscal 2028 to 2030 is designed to cushion annual charges stemming from the company's separation and overhaul — costs tied to the disentanglement, the diagnostics carve-out and the partial divestment of the ultrasound business.

The spin-off of the in-vitro diagnostics unit, set in motion Thursday, is meant to produce a standalone organisation called Olyrian Diagnostics by mid-2028. Olyrian will remain part of Siemens Healthineers through the transition. A roadshow with JPMorgan in London is scheduled for 9 November.

Board reshuffle and steady buybacks

Supervisory board changes are also on the agenda. Healthineers said Wednesday that the board will propose four new shareholder representatives at the 2027 annual general meeting: Melanie Kreis, Heyo Kroemer, Jonathan Lewin and Pascale Witz. Roland Busch is to step down early, while the mandates of Veronika Bienert, Marion Helmes and Karl-Heinz Streibich expire when the 2027 meeting closes.

On the capital side, the company reported the repurchase of 50,000 of its own shares for the period from 26 October through 1 November, disclosed on 2 November. Since the programme began on 1 June, roughly 3.6 million shares have been bought back in total.
