Siemens Healthineers has moved on two fronts at once: reaching for growth in medical artificial intelligence while absorbing the cost of pulling itself apart. On Friday the company signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Alibaba DAMO Academy to pair photon-counting CT imaging with medical AI, a push aimed at catching cancer and cardiovascular disease earlier. The announcement came a day after finance chief Jochen Schmitz put a price tag of roughly €300 million on the restructuring now under way.

That bill covers three moving parts — the carve-out of the in-vitro diagnostics business, the separation from Siemens, and the sharper focus on ultrasound. To help pay for the reshuffle, Healthineers has unveiled a further savings drive called "Transform4 Future," which is due to kick in from 2028. Reuters reports the measures will be rolled out between 2028 and 2030, with at least €300 million of savings targeted at Healthineers and a further €400 million pencilled in at Olyrian Diagnostics.

The diagnostics unit, which began its carve-out on Thursday, will be built up step by step as a standalone organisation under the Olyrian name. Management expects the transition phase to wrap up by mid-2028. Greater independence from Siemens also comes with a new corporate name: the group intends to rebrand simply as "Healthineers," subject to shareholder approval at the annual general meeting in February 2027. The branding switch would start after the planned spin-off from Siemens and run for three years.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Healthineers?

Board Reshuffle Set for 2027 Vote

Governance changes are in the pipeline too. The supervisory board said on Wednesday it will propose Melanie Kreis, Heyo Kroemer, Jonathan Lewin and Pascale Witz as new shareholder representatives at the 2027 AGM. Roland Busch is to step down early, while the mandates of Veronika Bienert, Marion Helmes and Karl-Heinz Streibich expire at the close of the 2027 meeting. Ralf Thomas and Peter Körte are to be put forward for re-election.

On the capital side, Healthineers reported the buyback of 50,000 of its own shares for the period from 26 October through 1 November, disclosed on 2 November. Since the programme began on 1 June, the company has repurchased around 3.6 million shares in total.

Analysts Split After Annual Results

Two research houses read the annual figures very differently. Deutsche Bank Research kept its "Hold" rating on Friday, with a price target of €39, according to media reports. Barclays went the other way, lifting its target from €47.50 to €51 and reaffirming its "Overweight" call, as dpa-AFX reported. The stock closed at €44.70 on Friday, leaving it stranded between the two camps.

Looking ahead, Healthineers is guiding for comparable revenue growth of 4.0–5.0% in fiscal 2027, with adjusted unadjusted earnings per share of €2.20–2.40.
