The push to connect human resources systems across borders is accelerating, with major software players unveiling new integrations and artificial intelligence tools this week. But fresh survey data suggests that even the most modern workplaces still struggle with administrative drag.

Remote, a provider of employer-of-record services, announced on August 27, 2026 that it has secured certified integration status for Workday HCM. The company says the partnership lets joint customers manage international teams directly from their existing Workday environment, triggering onboarding workflows and syncing employee records and leave balances between the two platforms in real time. The offering is now listed on Workday's marketplace.

The certification also positions Remote as a gold sponsor at two upcoming industry gatherings: Workday Rising, scheduled for October 12-15, 2026, and Workday Rising EMEA, set for November 17-19, 2026.

Competitors are moving in similar directions. G-P published a dedicated server on August 26, 2026 designed to deliver real-time workforce data to AI models such as ChatGPT and Gemini, as well as to major HR systems from SAP, Workday, ADP and Paylocity. The company emphasizes built-in safeguards, including human review checkpoints and redaction of sensitive information.

AI adoption in HR is picking up measurable momentum. Asure Software announced on the same day that it is embedding Luna AI into its AsureCentral platform. The tool handles more than 50 functions, from checking remaining vacation days to tracking documents. Shares of the NASDAQ-listed company closed at $8.81 on the announcement date, up 2.20 percent.

As HR systems grow more complex, many UK employers overlook a fundamental legal obligation: compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Non-compliance can expose your business to costly fines and legal action. Automation specialists report dramatic efficiency gains. Simplifier claims that AI-powered candidate screening can shorten the time to build a shortlist by up to 85 percent, while onboarding coordination drops by 60 percent and leave approvals move 75 percent faster.

Yet the gap between technological capability and everyday reality remains wide. The New Work Barometer, surveying 734 participants between April and June 2026, found that 67.2 percent view HR as an especially bureaucratic function. Notably, companies that already embrace modern working methods reported no reduction in red tape.

Attitudes toward AI tools are warming, according to a Bitkom survey of more than 600 firms. In 2024, 45 percent of respondents expressed interest in using AI for reference letters; today, 14 percent actively do so. AI is also being deployed in onboarding by 14 percent of companies and in performance reviews by 12 percent. Data protection concerns and regulatory constraints, including the EU's AI Act, continue to temper enthusiasm.

The public sector shows no immunity to these pressures. The AOK Federal Association issued a tender on August 26, 2026 to migrate data from 13 SAP systems into cloud-based platforms such as SAP SuccessFactors. Bidders face a September 8, 2026 deadline and must demonstrate at least 15 specialists with migration experience plus reference projects covering a minimum of 2,500 HR cases.
