Infineon has picked 10 November for the release of its fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 results, with the figures due at 7:30 CET. The Munich chipmaker will report into a market still nursing the wounds of a sector-wide sell-off that swept through technology and semiconductor names and dragged Infineon along with it.

According to media reports, the slump followed the US midterm elections, as investors fretted that new political majorities could put the brakes on the build-out of AI data centres. No fresh company news drove the subsequent rebound on Friday, when the stock climbed 1.8% to €45.85 as the sector recovered broadly.

Two Brokers, One €96 Target

Ahead of the numbers, JPMorgan kept Infineon at "Overweight" with a €96 price target on Wednesday. Analyst Sandeep Deshpande argued the company's 2027 targets could land somewhat above consensus, and pointed to room for later upgrades. Jefferies struck a similar note on 2 November, maintaining a "Buy" rating and the same €96 target.

Qualcomm Tie-Up Targets Software-Defined Vehicles

On the automotive front, Infineon and Qualcomm Technologies agreed a technology collaboration on 2 November covering software-defined vehicles. Infineon is to contribute security management, connectivity and data storage to vehicle computers built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride platform, under a microcontroller-based design concept intended to complement Qualcomm's reference platforms.

The company also rolled out its LinearFET technology on 27 October, aimed at power distribution in electric and software-defined vehicles. That same day it published a reference design for high-voltage battery management systems featuring advanced battery modelling.

Villach Bet Backed by Brussels

Infineon's most capital-intensive move is in Austria. Announced on 27 October, the plan calls for high-volume production of GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers at Villach, with roughly €1.1 billion of investment through 2034. Output is scheduled to begin at the end of 2027, and the European Commission has approved €319 million in funding under the European Chips Act.

According to an APA report, Infineon does not expect the investment to create new jobs in the immediate term; the project is instead intended to safeguard existing positions.

AI Power and a Munich Showcase

In the AI data centre arena, Infineon said on 26 October it would supply monolithic bidirectional 900-V GaN switches to Enphase Energy, which plans to use the components in solid-state transformer power modules. The company will also be on the ground at electronica in Munich from 10 to 13 November.
