Infineon Holds Its Ground: Two Brokers Keep 96-Euro Targets as GaN Bet and Qualcomm Deal Take Shape
Published on 11/08/2026 at 15:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deInfineon shares added 1.8% on Friday to close at €45.85, a rebound driven by a sector-wide recovery rather than any fresh company announcement. The bounce followed a broad sell-off in technology and chip stocks that had swept up the German semiconductor maker along with its peers.
According to media reports, the recent slide was set off by worries over the future build-out of AI data centres after the US midterm elections, with investors fretting that new political majorities could put the brakes on expansion. Friday's advance came without a new Infineon corporate release to spark it.

Villach fab anchors Europe's GaN ambitions
Infineon announced on 27 October that it will invest around €1.1 billion at its Villach site through 2034, where Europe's first high-volume production of gallium nitride power semiconductors is to be established. The 300-millimetre wafer manufacturing is backed by €319 million in funding from the European Chips Act, approved by the European Commission, with production scheduled to begin by the end of 2027. According to an APA report, Infineon does not expect the investment to create new jobs immediately; instead, the project is intended to safeguard existing positions.
Separately, Infineon said on 26 October it will supply monolithic bidirectional 900-V GaN switches to Enphase Energy for AI data centres. Enphase plans to use the components in solid-state transformer power modules.
Lab expansion in Warstein
Infineon opened a new office and laboratory building in Warstein on 28 October for the development of power semiconductor modules. The company said the facility offers around 1,200 square metres of laboratory space and is designed to accommodate roughly 350 employees.
