Infineon spent the past week rolling out hardware and partnerships aimed squarely at artificial intelligence infrastructure and software-defined vehicles, even as political noise in Washington briefly weighed on its shares. The Munich chipmaker's announcements spanned a new MOSFET family already in serial production, a tie-up on high-voltage direct-current power for AI data centres, an automotive design collaboration with Qualcomm and a microcontroller platform built on RISC-V.

A Power Portfolio Ready to Ship

Tuesday's launch of the OptiMOS-7 40-volt MOSFET family targets AI servers, data centres and telecom infrastructure. According to the company, the portfolio is available now and already in volume production. The devices are engineered for high-frequency DC-DC conversion, with the aim of lifting both efficiency and power density.

The product news sits alongside a planned collaboration with SOLUM on high-voltage DC solutions for AI data centres. A letter of intent signed on Thursday is meant to deepen cooperation on power supply, with interbus converters, battery backup units and power supplies named as intended areas of application. Unlike the MOSFET family, which is shipping today, the SOLUM arrangement remains at the intent stage.

Automotive: Qualcomm Deal and a RISC-V First

Infineon's automotive push produced two separate items. On Monday the company agreed a microcontroller-based design with Qualcomm Technologies, intended for Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride reference platforms for high-performance computing and AI in vehicles. Midweek brought the AURIX RC1 family, aimed at real-time processing and control in software-defined cars as well as physical-AI applications. It marks the first time an Infineon MCU platform uses RISC-V. Samples are slated for the first half of 2027.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?

Villach Fab Backs the GaN Story

Underpinning the power ambitions is a manufacturing commitment announced on 27 October: roughly EUR 1.1 billion of investment through 2034 in Villach, Austria. The site is earmarked to host what the company describes as the world's first high-volume production of GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers.

Analysts Stay Constructive as Politics Rumbles

Thursday's share price weakness was tied in media reports to concerns about delays in AI data-centre buildouts, with the Democrats' clear victory in the US midterm elections cited as the trigger. The stock recovered 1.8% the following day, leaving the political worries to sit alongside the flow of product and investment news.

Brokerage commentary has stayed positive. JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating and EUR 96 price target on Wednesday, with analyst Sandeep Deshpande suggesting Infineon's 2027 targets could come in slightly above consensus — his own expectation rather than a published company forecast. Jefferies kept its "Buy" rating and the same EUR 96 target on Monday; analyst Janardan Menon pointed to investment by major cloud and data-centre operators and encouraging commentary from across the sector.

November 10 in the Diary

Investors now turn to the next scheduled results date. Infineon plans to publish fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 figures on 10 November, with the event calendar listing 7:30 CET. The date is provisionally scheduled, and it will put hard numbers on the table after a week dominated by product launches and partnership announcements.
