IperionX Titanium Platform Clears Key Hurdle, but Two Reports Disagree on the Stock's Reaction

IperionX has wrapped up the first round of testing for its next-generation titanium production technology, a milestone that management says confirms the commercial potential of a continuous process designed to undercut conventional manufacturing costs. The company disclosed the results on Wednesday, and the news quickly became the focal point for investors weighing how soon the technology can be scaled.
The platform at the center of the announcement, GenX, builds on the company's existing HAMR method. Across four separate test campaigns totaling 41 hours of runtime, the system churned out more than 500 kilograms of titanium powder, averaging roughly 12 kilograms per hour. That throughput is six times higher than what the older batch-based HAMR process can deliver, according to the company.
Resource Intensity Falls Sharply
The efficiency numbers extend well beyond raw output. Electricity consumption per kilogram of powder dropped by more than 75%, while magnesium use fell by over 45% and hydrogen demand declined by more than 60%. Those savings matter because titanium production has long been viewed as one of the more energy-hungry and capital-intensive corners of specialty metals manufacturing, where input costs often determine whether an alternative route can compete with established players.
Quality checks also came back clean. Production samples met the oxygen limits set by ASTM standards for titanium powder, a threshold that must be cleared before the material can be qualified for demanding industrial end-uses.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying IperionX?
With the test phase behind it, IperionX now plans further refinements and engineering adjustments aimed at industrial-scale output at its development site in Virginia. The company also said it intends to optimize the furnace during the current fourth quarter and fully integrate it into a powder production line, alongside an engineering assessment for a first large-scale production line. Notably, management indicated that GenX is not strictly required for the current ramp toward 200 tonnes of annual capacity, since that push relies on existing technology.
A Split Verdict on the Share Price
Coverage of the stock's reaction diverges. One account put the advance at 7.4% to EUR 1.80 during the session, while another reported a pre-market gain of 2.5% to EUR 1.72 on Thursday. Both figures reflect the same underlying catalyst — the GenX validation — but capture different points in the trading day.
Analyst sentiment has also shifted in the company's favor. On September 2, Jefferies Financial Group initiated coverage with a buy rating and a $26.00 price target, a vote of confidence from a major US investment bank.
IperionX at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Attention now turns to the financial calendar. Media reports point to second-half results due before the US market open on Wednesday, September 23, giving shareholders their next hard look at the company's finances. A separate report cited September 22, 2026 as the date for the next quarterly figures.
