IREN's Spanish Buildout and Refinanced GPUs Meet a Loss-Making November 5 Test
Published on 11/04/2026 at 09:30 | Editorial boerse-global.deIREN shares slipped 5.3% to €20.70 in pre-market trading on Tuesday, caught in a broader selloff across technology names. The dip comes as investors square up to a quarterly report that will lay bare the cost of the company's pivot toward AI infrastructure — and the scale of the losses that come with it.
The company will publish results for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 on November 5, 2026, after the market close. The reporting period ended September 30, 2026, and management will host a conference call at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Consensus estimates point to revenue of $229.81 million and a loss of $0.73 per share — a sharp reversal from the $1.06 per share profit IREN booked in the same quarter a year earlier.
A Loss That Needs Unpacking
The headline figure will not tell the whole story. In the previously reported quarter, IREN posted a net loss of $684 million, a number swollen by $450.4 million in non-cash writedowns, predominantly against mining hardware. That charge is the key reference point for the coming report: it explains why investors should separate the accounting loss from the operational trajectory. A large depreciation component does not make a loss meaningless, but it does change how it stacks up against cash-draining costs.
Analysts, for their part, have not lost faith. B. Riley cut its price target to $64 from $91 while keeping a buy rating on the stock — a combination that captures the tension running through the IREN story. The long-term potential is still recognized; the valuation attached to it is simply more cautious.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying IREN?
Contracted Revenue Is Not Booked Revenue
What the market really wants to see is progress on the AI cloud business. In July, IREN said roughly 85% of its target of more than $4 billion in annualized AI cloud revenue by the end of 2026 was already under contract. That annualized run-rate will be one of the central metrics to watch on November 5.
Contracted revenue, though, is not the same as revenue already recognized in a given quarter. The report gives investors a chance to judge the contractual backlog and actual business progress side by side — and to see how far IREN has moved from signed agreements to live workloads.
Financing Already Earning Its Keep
Behind the earnings test sits a balance sheet that has been actively reshaped. Just over a week ago, IREN closed a $363 million equipment financing facility with Wingspire Equipment Finance for its AI compute business. The transaction refinanced infrastructure already in service and generating revenue, including GPU servers and networking systems. Multi-year customer contracts underpinned the deal, and Wingspire noted that IREN recovered capital for redeployment through the arrangement. Crucially, the facility covers assets already in operation, not solely future expansion.
On the expansion front, IREN unveiled IREN Europe roughly two weeks ago, together with plans for an AI data center campus in Badajoz, Spain. The site is designed for 300 megawatts of capacity, with first operations targeted for 2028. As part of the European push, the company appointed Roberto Purcaro as executive director for Europe.
IREN at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Options Market Braces for a Big Move
Derivatives traders are positioning for a violent reaction to the numbers. Options pricing implies a move of ±17.03% around the release — more than double the average absolute post-earnings swing of 8.31% over the past eight quarters. That is not a directional call; it reflects expectations of a forceful response either way.
Tuesday's pre-market recovery, then, does little to diminish the significance of the upcoming report. For a credible re-rating, what matters most is the trajectory of losses and hard evidence that IREN is converting its AI cloud contracts into running business.
