Ladder Maker KRAUSE Ditches Paper Checklists in Favour of QR-Code Scans

Steigtechnik manufacturer KRAUSE has teamed up with software firm wosatec to digitise the inspection of work equipment, a partnership aimed at pushing paper-based checklists out of everyday operations. Physical assets are tagged with QR-code labels, while all documentation is pooled centrally in wosatec's web app.

The joint solution hinges on tying a physical tag to a digital record. Workers scan the QR-code label attached to a given piece of equipment to identify it on the spot, then log the inspection through the wosatec web app.
Offline capability sits at the heart of the workflow: inspection reports can be captured on mobile devices even at sites with no active internet connection. Once an inspection is finished, the system generates PDF reports automatically, cutting the administrative load of follow-up work and keeping every inspection record in structured storage.
Deadlines, cycles and the rulebook
Keeping to recurring inspection cycles is another focus. The platform includes scheduling for repeat inspections so that upcoming checks can be coordinated in good time. How often each item must be inspected depends on the requirements set out in a company's own risk assessment.
The legal footing for these processes is well established, resting on the Betriebssicherheitsverordnung (the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health) and the Technische Regeln für Betriebssicherheit (TRBS 1201), the technical rules for operational safety. For ladders and steps, DGUV Information 208-016 also applies, governing proper visual and functional checks. Pairing digital capture with automated archiving is intended to help companies meet these regulatory duties.
