Lenzing's Heiligenkreuz Site Draws About 30 Suitors as Shutdown Slips to Early 2027
Published on 10/25/2026 at 19:30 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing has pushed back the planned closure of its Heiligenkreuz facility in southern Burgenland from the end of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027, a company spokesperson confirmed to the APA news agency on Thursday. The site employs roughly 285 people, and management says it is now in talks with about 30 interested parties over a possible takeover. Those discussions concern a potential acquisition, though the closure remains scheduled for the delayed timeframe. Clarity on whether a sale can go ahead is expected by the end of the year.
The reprieve comes as the company cited two reasons for the delay: the transfer of production to other sites and the processing of existing inventories.
Insider Buying at the Rights Price
Separately, supervisory board-linked figures and an executive moved on the newly issued stock on Friday. Oberbank exercised subscription rights to take up 1,344,177 Lenzing shares at EUR 8.65 apiece, according to a mandatory disclosure. The bank has close ties to Lenzing supervisory board member Martin Seiter.
Christian Skilich, a member of Lenzing's management board, reported buying 1,710 shares on the same day, also at the subscription price. B&C KB Holding had already acquired shares on Thursday by exercising its rights; the company is closely associated with supervisory board member Patrick Lackenbucher, and that purchase likewise went through at the rights price.

Register Nearly Doubles
The insider purchases follow the completion of a fully guaranteed capital increase that raised gross proceeds of roughly EUR 301.2 million. Lenzing issued 34,756,362 new shares in the transaction. As of Friday, the Vienna Stock Exchange had extended the listing by that same number, lifting the total number of listed shares to 73,374,542 from 38,618,180 beforehand.
Demand was strong: 99% of the offered shares were subscribed through the rights offering, and the syndicate banks sold the remainder on the market at no less than the subscription price. Lenzing intends to deploy the proceeds toward its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and to shore up its capital structure.
The stock traded 1.7% lower on Friday. Reuters attributed the earlier pressure on the share price to the capital measure itself.
