Lenzing has pushed back the planned shutdown of its Heiligenkreuz facility in southern Burgenland from the end of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027, a company spokesperson confirmed to the APA news agency on Thursday. The site employs around 285 people, and the fibre maker says it is in contact with approximately 30 interested parties about a possible takeover — talks that run alongside, not instead of, the scheduled closure.

The delay stems from the transfer of production to other locations, according to the company. The revised timetable concerns only the timing of the intended production stop at Heiligenkreuz.

Insiders Step Up at the Issue Price

The Heiligenkreuz update landed in a week dominated by Lenzing's completed capital increase, which brought in gross proceeds of EUR 301.2 million. The company issued 34,756,362 new shares at EUR 8.65 apiece. Of that total, 34,411,626 shares were subscribed through rights, a take-up rate of 99%, with the syndicate banks selling the remainder at no less than the subscription price.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?

Several insiders moved on Friday, all at the same EUR 8.65 price. Supervisory board member Christian Skilich bought 1,710 shares, while Oberbank — which has close ties to Lenzing supervisory board member Martin Seiter — exercised rights to take over 1,344,177 shares. Both transactions were disclosed in mandatory filings with the Vienna Stock Exchange. A day earlier, B&C KB Holding, linked to supervisory board member Patrick Lackenbucher, had likewise acquired shares by exercising rights.

The preliminary subscription result published on Tuesday had already pointed to strong demand, including 18,159,291 shares taken up by the syndicate formed by B&C Group and Suzano S.A. That figure reflected subscriptions received by 16:00 on Tuesday.

Where the Money Goes

Lenzing intends to channel the proceeds into its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and to shore up its capital structure. The equity raise and the Heiligenkreuz announcement were accompanied by a 1.7% decline in the share price on Friday.
