Lenzing Shortlists Heiligenkreuz Suitors as Capital Increase Resets Share Count
Published on 11/07/2026 at 10:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing has narrowed the field of potential buyers for its Heiligenkreuz fibre plant, with a shortlist expected to be drawn from roughly 30 expressions of interest around mid-November. Management intends to decide by year-end whether the site is sold or shut, and the production line there will keep running until the end of March 2027, according to managing director Bernd Zauner, who said binding offers were slated for November within the ongoing sales process.
The Austrian fibre maker is running the Heiligenkreuz disposal alongside plans to wind down production at its Grimsby facility by the end of 2027. Both moves form part of the broader optimisation of the company's product portfolio and manufacturing network, with further steps promised before the end of the year.
Nine-Month Figures Lay Bare the Cost of the Overhaul
The financial toll of the restructuring is visible in the results for the first nine months of 2026, released on Thursday. Lenzing posted EBITDA of EUR 316.4 Mio., a figure weighed down by EUR 36.6 Mio. in restructuring charges. Stripping those out, adjusted EBITDA came in at EUR 353 Mio., and the adjusted margin improved to 18.3 percent from 17.9 percent a year earlier — a gain the company attributed to stronger underlying operating profitability.

Revenue slipped to EUR 1.93 Mrd. from EUR 1.97 Mrd. in the prior-year period. At the EBIT line, Lenzing recorded a loss of EUR 55.1 Mio., hit in part by impairment charges of EUR 136.1 Mio. The group has scheduled publication of its full 2026 financial results for 18 March 2027.
Share Capital Nearly Doubles After Rights Issue
Separately, Lenzing completed a capital increase that has substantially reshaped its equity base. The execution was entered in the commercial register on 22 October, lifting share capital to EUR 76,204,702.90 from EUR 40,107,738.37, with the new shares delivered on 23 October. A mandatory disclosure dated 30 October put the total number of voting rights at 73,374,542, a change effective from 22 October.
Following the transaction, the syndicate of B&C-Gruppe and Suzano S.A. continues to hold approximately 52.25 percent of voting rights, Lenzing said.
The dual track for Heiligenkreuz — sale or closure — is set to be resolved within weeks, with the shortlist of bidders due first and a final call before the calendar turns.
