Nebius Faces a Fortnight That Could Settle the Bull-Bear Argument

There is a number that captures the Nebius dilemma better than any chart: 246 percent. That is the share's twelve-month gain. There is another number that captures the tension just as well: minus 18 percent. That is what the stock did in the past month alone. Both figures are true at the same time, and that contradiction is precisely why the AI-infrastructure group has become the market's favourite mood ring.
The shares closed Friday at EUR 164.90, up 0.94 percent on the day. The next real catalyst arrives on 12 August, when Nebius reports second-quarter results before the market opens, followed by a conference call. Two weeks later, on 25 August, shareholders gather for the annual meeting. Between those two dates, investors will get their clearest signal yet on whether this is a growth story in consolidation or a momentum trade losing its footing.
A Rally That Ran Into Gravity
The long-term trajectory remains striking. The stock is up 124.35 percent since the start of the year and has climbed 246.43 percent over twelve months. From its August 2025 low of EUR 45, the shares surged to a June peak of EUR 261.00 — a high reached on 22 June. Since then, however, the picture has soured: the stock sits 36.82 percent below that peak, and the July decline of 18.18 percent has wiped out a meaningful chunk of the year's gains.
Technical indicators tell a story of digestion rather than breakdown. The 50-day moving average stands at EUR 196.57, roughly 16 percent above the current price — a classic sign of an overheated stock releasing pressure. The 200-day average of EUR 122.67, by contrast, sits more than 34 percent below the current level, suggesting the structural uptrend remains intact. The relative strength index reads 46.2, squarely in neutral territory: neither overbought nor oversold. With 30-day annualised volatility running at nearly 148 percent, this kind of whipsaw is simply the cost of doing business in the stock.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?
The shares are hovering almost exactly at the 100-day moving average of EUR 162.76, a level that has repeatedly acted as a pivot during the correction. A break below would put the 200-day line in play as the next support zone. A recovery back toward the 50-day average would signal consolidation rather than the start of a deeper reset.
Growth, Capital Hunger and a Strategic Pivot
The fundamental picture is no less dramatic. Nebius generated revenue of USD 399 million in the first quarter of 2026, a 684 percent jump year on year. Management has reaffirmed its full-year guidance of USD 3 billion to 3.4 billion in revenue, with an annualised run-rate of USD 7 billion to 9 billion targeted by year-end. The market capitalisation stands at EUR 41.91 billion.
But growth at this pace requires capital at this scale. In July, Nebius secured the first secured credit facility in the neocloud sector, a USD 775 million line priced at SOFR plus 250 basis points and maturing in October 2030. The facility is backed by deployed GPU infrastructure and contractually committed customer cash flows. Five days later came a far more consequential development: Nvidia disclosed a passive 9.3 percent stake in Nebius to the SEC, sending the shares up nearly 19 percent in a single session on 21 July.
The company has also begun testing a structural answer to the industry's central tension — demand for compute appears limitless, but building it costs a fortune. Nebius recently unveiled a model in which infrastructure partners operate the Nebius platform in their own data centres, financing and owning the hardware themselves. It is a quiet move toward an asset-light approach, and a tacit acknowledgment that gigawatt-scale AI factories cannot be built on balance-sheet alone.
What the Next Two Weeks Decide
When Nebius reports on 12 August, the market will be looking past headline growth numbers to operational execution. The key question is progress on the annualised revenue run-rate toward the USD 7 billion-to-9 billion target. Equally important is the timeline for the Vera Rubin platform in Finland — specifically, when the facility transitions from testing to billable customer workloads. That detail will feed directly into the credibility of the quarterly numbers.
Nebius at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Capital expenditure will also face scrutiny. Nebius has guided to between USD 16 billion and 22.5 billion in capex for the current year, funded in part by the July credit line. At the annual meeting on 25 August, shareholders will vote on the 2025 financial statements, the re-election of the entire board, and broad authorisations for share issuances, buybacks and the cancellation of Class C shares.
The stock is caught between two identities: the relentless growth compounder and the volatile momentum name. The two-week window between earnings and the shareholder meeting should go a long way toward determining which one wins out. For now, the shares sit barely below the 50-day average and barely above the 100-day line — a technical knife's edge that mirrors the fundamental debate. Nebius remains the clearest barometer for whether investors believe in a multi-year structural shift in AI infrastructure, or in a bubble waiting for a sharp correction. The next fortnight will offer the first real answer.
