Nebius Stock: A 21% GPU Price Hike, a $410 Target and Michael Burry's Warning

Nebius will lift GPU rental rates by up to 21% on October 1, betting on pricing power even as analysts split on its heavy financing needs.

Nebius Raises GPU Rental Rates 21% as AI Compute Demand Outstrips Supply

Anyone hunting for proof that the appetite for artificial intelligence remains insatiable need look no further than Nebius. The company plans to raise its on-demand rental rates for graphics processors by as much as 21 percent starting October 1 — a move that, on its face, radiates pricing power in a market where demand for compute visibly outstrips supply.

Yet that same decision exposes a business model whose enormous capital hunger is becoming the dominant risk for shareholders. Customers are evidently willing to dig deeper for cutting-edge hardware, and the ability to market short-term capacity at steep markups signals real leverage in a tight market. The harder question is who ultimately foots the bill for the boom. A meaningful slice of Nebius's clientele consists of young firms that lean heavily on venture capital and burn large sums training new AI models. Should that external liquidity sputter, the astronomical rents for compute time would be difficult to sustain.

The Balance-Sheet Cost of Hypergrowth

To deliver the capacity it has promised, Nebius must front colossal sums — and that gap requires a steady stream of fresh debt or dilution through the capital markets. Rising financing costs hit an expansion of this scale hard, leaving the company to walk a narrow ridge between growth and financial overextension.

Wall Street is split on that balancing act like few other topics. The shares closed yesterday at EUR 206.40, up 181 percent since the start of the year, yet still 21 percent below their 52-week high. The divergence in expert opinion is stark: Northland rates the stock with an optimistic price target of USD 410, while Rothschild & Co Redburn warns of the massive financing risks facing compute landlords. Its analyst Alexander Haissl puts fair value at just USD 84 and rates the shares a Sell.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

A valuation spread that wide shows how speculative the foundation currently is. The bulls are pricing in seamless scaling and permanently high margins; the skeptics fixate on whether the multi-billion-dollar obligations can ever be retired out of operating cash flow.

Burry Turns Up the Heat

Michael Burry is intensifying his pressure on Nebius. In his assessment, the sector faces medium-term overcapacity, which is why he considers the current valuation level unsustainable. Burry anchors his skepticism partly on comments from Acer chief Jason Chen, who warned of growing memory inventories and future price pressure. Back in August, the investor already described Nebius's share-price climb as a textbook sign of overheating. Beyond Nebius, Burry's short positions target other industry heavyweights including Micron and Palantir.

Higher fees for compute units are meant to underpin profitability through the current year. In the second quarter of 2026, group revenue climbed to USD 582.3 million, and management is targeting up to USD 3.4 billion for the full year. The company has backing from agreements with established technology players: alongside a partnership with Palantir, Microsoft has secured contractual access to compute capacity. Large customers book fixed contingents to keep their own servers free for internal applications.

A Leveraged Bet on the AI Future

The market is reflecting these contradictory signals. The stock trades at EUR 207.20, a gain of 182 percent year-to-date, though it remains some distance from its 52-week high of EUR 261.00. For investors, the contest between operational expansion and skeptical market participants is coming to a head. As long as demand for compute holds, Nebius can push its growth plans forward. Should the warnings of a cyclical cooldown prove correct, the pressure to justify the current share price will mount.

To my mind, Nebius is the archetype of a leveraged wager on the AI future. The price increases confirm its present exceptional standing and secure spectacular growth rates in the near term. What investors must not do is mistake pricing power for financial solidity. The company operates with extraordinarily high financial stakes. If the buildout stalls or demand from model developers cools unexpectedly, the dream of lasting record margins could evaporate quickly. Nebius remains a fascinating but highly vulnerable growth stock.
