Nestlé's BirdLife Pact Targets Farm Biodiversity as EU Tightens Infant-Formula Rules
Published on 11/08/2026 at 04:42 | Editorial boerse-global.deNestlé has launched a three-and-a-half-year research partnership with BirdLife Europe aimed at measuring how regenerative farming practices affect biodiversity on European farmland. The project, announced by the company, will begin monitoring in Spain in 2026, giving the initiative a concrete starting point as the food giant seeks to substantiate the environmental claims behind its agricultural sourcing.
The tie-up pairs regenerative agriculture with a formal biodiversity assessment — an effort to move beyond rhetoric and generate field-level data on cultivated land across the continent. For Nestlé, the collaboration arrives alongside a broader regulatory shift that touches a different part of its portfolio entirely.
Stricter Cereulid Limits Backed by Member States
EU member states have reportedly endorsed new permanent maximum levels for cereulid in infant nutrition, covering both powdered and liquid formula. The decision follows a series of recalls, including one involving Nestlé products, and the 2025 withdrawal of Nestlé baby food that preceded the regulatory move. The European Commission's new ceilings establish a lasting safety benchmark for the category — and a potential compliance burden for Nestlé's infant-nutrition division.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nestle?
Investors registered the pressure: the stock shed 1.4% and closed at €93.40.
Portfolio Housekeeping and a Premium Supplements Push
Elsewhere in the group, Nestlé sold British recipe-kit business SimplyCook to Jardox, an ingredients and flavours supplier. No purchase price was disclosed. On the product front, the company unveiled Solgar Prime, a premium supplements line positioned squarely in the healthy-longevity segment.
Swiss-Ski Deal Puts Three Brands on the Slopes
A three-year partnership with Swiss-Ski, announced roughly a week ago, makes Nestlé an official partner in the silver category starting with the 2026/27 season. CAILLER, THOMY and NESCAFÉ each get distinct placements: CAILLER and NESCAFÉ will feature in ski freestyle and snowboard events, while THOMY appears at Swiss Alpine Ski World Cup races. The agreement also includes Nestlé backing for young up-and-coming athletes.
Guidance Holds After Solid Nine-Month Stretch
Underpinning the corporate activity is the trading picture. Nestlé reported organic growth of 4.0% for the third quarter of 2026 and 3.7% for the first nine months of the year. Management reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook, still calling for organic growth of 3% to 4%. The Russian business has not been consolidated since the end of September 2026, the company said.
