Novo Nordisk's 4 November Scorecard: A Trimmed Decline, a 4.6 Billion DKK Pill Test and Nine Flags Already Planted

Jyske Bank expects Novo to narrow its full-year guidance floor ahead of the 4 November report, with oral Wegovy sales the key hurdle.

Novo Nordisk investors heading into the 4 November quarterly report face an unusual sort of optimism: not the prospect of renewed growth, but the hope that the contraction will simply be smaller than advertised. Jyske Bank expects the Danish drugmaker to improve the low end of its full-year outlook, and that expectation — an analyst's call, not a company announcement — has become the central talking point ahead of the print.

From minus 6% to minus 3%: a narrower slide, not a turnaround

At constant exchange rates, Novo currently guides toward declines of up to 6% in both adjusted revenue and operating profit. Jyske Bank sees room to tighten those floors to minus 3% on the top line and minus 4% on operating profit. The distinction matters. A raised outlook would signal that Novo is cushioning US pricing pressure better than it had warned, but it would still describe a shrinking business — a slower retreat rather than a fresh growth push.

Bloomberg consensus figures cited by Ekstra Bladet lay out the starting position. Quarterly revenue is expected to fall 4% year on year in currency-adjusted terms. Ozempic is forecast to post a decline of more than 10%, both against the prior-year quarter and sequentially.

The pill carries the forecast, the injection carries the drag

Within the Wegovy franchise, the two formats are moving in opposite directions. Sydbank projects quarterly sales of 4.25 billion DKK for the oral version, while the injectable is seen slipping 2% to 19.99 billion DKK, squeezed by competition from Zepbound and softer US prices. A separate consensus estimate puts injectable Wegovy at 19.9 billion DKK, 2.1% below the year-earlier quarter.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Novo Nordisk?

The tablet's consensus for the third quarter of 2026 stands at 4.6 billion DKK. That figure is the real hurdle. A widening map of launch markets impresses nobody if the revenue line does not follow, and a strong new product can steady the overall business without dragging the entire group back onto a sustainable growth path. Growth in one SKU is not the same as rising revenue for Novo as a whole.

Nine countries, one US debut and a crowded calendar

Geographic reach is advancing steadily. The pill is now officially launched in nine countries, among them Germany, France and Spain. A US rollout at the start of 2026 adds the largest market, with Mexico scheduled for November 2026 and Australia — already approved — targeted for availability before Christmas 2026. Novo attributes the staged pace to surging demand and manufacturing capacity.

Morningstar analyst Karen Andersen points to the early US head start as a genuine advantage, and notes the pill has delivered better obesity outcomes than Eli Lilly's Foundayo. That could help Novo build demand beyond American borders. The caveat cuts the other way too: Andersen sees Foundayo ahead on ease of manufacturing and speed of international rollout, so Novo's US lead is no permanent shield. Spain illustrates the access question — official launches do not automatically convert interest into durable demand.

Novo Nordisk at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Buybacks keep running in the background

Away from the operating debate, Novo's capital returns continue on schedule. The company said it repurchased roughly 1.44 million B shares for about 377 million DKK between 26 October and the previous day. Cumulative buybacks since 4 February have reached 11.564 billion DKK, against a twelve-month programme authorising up to 15 billion DKK. These purchases are an ongoing measure, not a newly launched initiative, and they answer none of the questions about future revenue.

What to watch on 4 November

The quarterly release lands on 4 November 2026, and the pill's revenue line will be read against the annual guidance for signals about whether Novo can offset weakness elsewhere. Mexico's launch will then test whether the international network expands as planned. The more credible recovery case rests not on a wider footprint alone, but on demonstrably more business booked in spite of the pricing squeeze — and on a trimmed decline that holds.
