Partners Group has secured a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi's Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC), signed on 28 October, aimed at drawing private capital into infrastructure and real estate projects in the emirate. The agreement covers both infrastructure schemes and property developments, widening the Swiss group's Gulf footprint at a time when its listed shares are still nursing steep losses.

The stock closed Friday at €729.80, up 0.4% on the day on the SIX, a modest rebound after intraday weakness in the previous session. That single-session gain does little to offset the wider picture: the shares have shed 31% since the start of the year.

Fresh fundraising offers a more encouraging counterweight. On 22 October, Partners Group reported the close of its second rated feeder vehicle of 2026 for the private credit evergreen strategy, pulling in USD 510 million. Combined with a vehicle raised in January, capital gathered through these structures now totals USD 875 million for the year, all directed at the same private credit evergreen mandate.

Whether that momentum can offset pressure elsewhere depends on how investors behave in the group's other evergreen funds. A filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission covering the US Partners Group Private Equity Fund showed redemption requests of USD 2.21 billion in the third quarter. The fund accepted buybacks of USD 728.4 million, equal to 5% of the relevant net asset value — roughly a third of what investors asked to withdraw.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Partners Group?

That gap is the number to watch. A retreat in redemption requests would ease the strain on the fund range; should requests keep towering over accepted repurchases, the limited availability of capital would remain a live concern for investors. Improvement driven by fading exit appetite would carry far more weight than another quarter of capped payouts against persistently heavy demand.

Europe tells a similar story with a different mechanism. Media reports indicate Partners Group will temporarily lower the quarterly redemption limit for new share classes of its European Global Value SICAV to 2.5% of net asset value, down from 5%. The measure is intended to conserve liquidity and avert fire sales of illiquid holdings. Reports have also linked a fee cut at a EUR 6.6 billion evergreen fund to redemption pressure — a step that would matter to investors if sweeter terms become necessary to keep capital in place.

Governance questions are stacking up alongside the liquidity ones. Shareholders of the Global Value SICAV must approve a planned conversion into an umbrella structure, a move media reports framed as a response to elevated redemptions. Approval would clear the way for implementation; whether it produces a durable improvement would then show up in redemption behaviour. On the staffing side, Bloomberg reported on 15 October that the private equity division had cut jobs and reassigned staff after a performance review. Partners Group said team size remains in line with its long-term average.

Partners Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The investment case now hinges on two things moving in the right direction at once. New commitments — whether from Abu Dhabi infrastructure mandates or private credit feeders — support fundraising, but they need to be matched by a slowdown in exit requests. A successful financing alone is not enough; investors looking for a genuine turn will want evidence that Partners Group can both attract fresh capital and reliably meet the redemption wishes of existing fund investors.
