PFISTERER's Backlog Cushion: Why Record H1 Profits Haven't Translated Into Share Price Momentum
Published on 08/22/2026 at 01:10 | Redaktion boerse-global.de
The disconnect between PFISTERER's operational trajectory and its stock market performance is becoming harder to ignore. The electrification specialist from Winterbach has just posted its strongest half-year results in recent memory, yet the shares remain roughly 36 percent below their May peak — a gap that raises questions about what the market is pricing in.
The stock managed a modest 1.7 percent advance on Friday to €73.20, though on a weekly basis it still sits 11 percent in the red. The 50-day moving average of €83.81 is now nearly 13 percent above the current price, and with a relative strength index of 39.5, buying interest appears tentative rather than urgent.
The Numbers Behind the Narrative
The headline figures tell a story of accelerating momentum. First-half revenue climbed 20.2 percent to €256.7 million, while adjusted EBITDA expanded at an even faster clip to €52.4 million, up from €39.5 million in the prior-year period. That translated into an adjusted EBITDA margin of 20.4 percent, a figure all product segments contributed to.
The bottom line was even more striking. Net profit surged 75.9 percent to €38.3 million, with earnings per share landing at €1.11 — comfortably ahead of the €0.86 analysts had penciled in. The second quarter alone delivered a record: revenue of €129.8 million versus €113.4 million a year earlier, with adjusted EBITDA of €24.7 million compared with €18.5 million previously. Quarterly net profit nearly doubled to €19.8 million.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying PFISTERER?
Management points to Europe as the primary engine. Revenue in the Europe and Africa region jumped from €115.8 million to €140.3 million, with regional EBITDA climbing from €18.7 million to €28.5 million. CEO Johannes Linden, who presented the results alongside board colleague Dr. Konstantin Kurfiss in a webcast, emphasized that Europe made the largest contribution to both top-line and earnings development.
Order Visibility Extends Into 2027
While order intake has normalized after exceptionally strong prior periods — coming in at €263.0 million — the book-to-bill ratio remained above 1, meaning new orders still outpaced half-year sales. More importantly, the order backlog has grown to €340.3 million as of June 30, 2026, up from €312.5 million a year earlier. Company guidance indicates this visibility now stretches into 2027, giving management a clear line of sight on a meaningful portion of future business.
Capacity Expansion and Technology Bets
The growth strategy extends beyond the current order book. PFISTERER is acquiring additional land at its Kada? site in the Czech Republic, its largest manufacturing facility for insulators and cable accessories. The new industrial area spans roughly 46,000 square meters, with existing buildings adding 5,000 square meters of production and logistics capacity, and further halls planned.
On the technology front, the company secured a patent for a pluggable HVDC connection technology during the first half, aimed at high-voltage direct current transmission applications. A new HVDC qualification center is also under construction in Winterbach, with commissioning scheduled for the first half of 2027. Production capacity for cable connection systems is being expanded across Germany, the United States, and the Czech Republic.
The Market's Skeptical Eye
The persistent share price weakness stands in contrast to these fundamentals. From the 52-week high of €114.60 reached in May, the stock has retreated significantly, and the monthly decline still shows a loss of 8.4 percent. The market's cautious stance may reflect concerns about what comes after the current backlog is worked through, or simply profit-taking after a strong run.
PFISTERER at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Management, for its part, remains committed to its 2030 medium-term targets. Linden stressed that the company is pushing forward with its central growth initiatives — capacity expansion, technology investment, and international presence — regardless of near-term share price volatility.
Whether the order backlog's visibility eventually translates into visible share price gains will likely depend on the next set of results. For now, PFISTERER presents an unusual picture: a company delivering record operational performance while its equity trades at a notable discount to its recent highs, leaving investors to weigh the strength of the fundamentals against the market's apparent reservations.
