Primary Hydrogen Secures Five-Year Drilling Permit as Maiden Rare Earth Campaign Prepares for Launch
Published on 08/15/2026 at 16:41 | Redaktion boerse-global.deThe road from mineral discovery to production is paved with permits, and Primary Hydrogen Corp. just cleared a significant stretch of it in one move. The company announced Monday that its Wicheeda North rare earth project in British Columbia has secured a five-year, area-based Mines Act permit authorizing surface drilling at up to 70 locations, along with trenching and eight kilometers of access development.
That regulatory runway extends through 2031, meaning the current exploration program and subsequent phases can proceed without the need for additional work permits until 2030. For a junior explorer, the planning certainty is substantial — no repeated filings, no seasonal regulatory bottlenecks.
What makes the announcement more notable is the funding picture. The 2026 work program, which calls for roughly 1,500 meters of drilling across two high-priority anomaly clusters, is already fully financed. The capital comes from critical mineral flow-through financings completed in June and July, eliminating the need for fresh equity raises that often dilute existing shareholders at this stage of a company's lifecycle.
Those two anomaly zones have never been tested by drilling. In fact, the upcoming campaign will mark the first boreholes ever sunk on the Wicheeda North property — a milestone that shifts the project from geochemical inference to hard geological evidence. Before the drill bit turns, the company will complete soil geochemistry sampling and an airborne radiometric survey, with the maiden drilling program slated to begin in autumn 2026.

Management Overhaul Precedes Operational Push
The exploration momentum arrives alongside a significant shake-up in the executive suite. David Jackson took over as president and chief executive officer on July 20, succeeding Benjamin Asuncion, who stepped down from the top role but remains on the board as a director. Four days later, Christopher Longton was appointed vice president of exploration, tasked with overseeing strategies for both natural hydrogen and rare earths.
The leadership transition reflects a broader operational repositioning. In early July, the company closed a non-brokered private placement under the Listed Issuer Financing Exemption, issuing nearly 2.46 million units at C$0.60 each for gross proceeds of roughly C$1.48 million. A separate marketing agreement with Nordcore Media LLC, valued at US$300,000 over an expected six-month term, was signed in July to bolster visibility during a period of heightened investor attention.
Stock Rally Reflects Growing Appetite
Investors have responded enthusiastically. The shares climbed 7.9 percent on Friday to close at €0.96, extending a seven-session advance of 29 percent. Over 30 days, the gain reaches 37 percent, leaving the stock just 5.0 percent shy of its 52-week high of €1.01, set on August 13. A week earlier, the shares had already risen 6.18 percent on Tradegate amid sustained positive momentum following the exploration campaign announcement.
The recent price action on August 10, however, lacks a single identifiable company-specific catalyst — prior announcements on financing, stock options, and permits had already been digested by the market. Media reports suggest speculative demand and broader interest in Canada's emerging natural hydrogen and rare earth sector are likely contributing factors.
Technical indicators point to a stretched situation: the relative strength index sits at 71.7, a level typically associated with overbought conditions. That is hardly surprising given the velocity of the recent move.
The autumn drilling campaign now becomes the pivotal test. Whether the current valuation is justified will ultimately depend on what the drill core reveals at Wicheeda North — the first concrete geological data from a property that has, until now, been assessed primarily through surface sampling and geophysical surveys.
