Renk's chief executive went shopping for his own company's stock on the same day the German defence contractor unloaded a set of nine-month figures — and the timing gave the market two stories to chew on at once. Alexander Sagel picked up 6,790 shares for a total of EUR 238,802.94, according to a mandatory disclosure published yesterday. The purchase was executed on Xetra at EUR 35.17 apiece.

Orders Outpace Revenue by a Wide Margin

The numbers Renk released for the first nine months of 2026 show demand running well ahead of turnover. Order intake climbed 33.6% to EUR 1,664.4 million, while revenue advanced 5.8% to EUR 982.0 million. Adjusted operating profit grew faster than the top line, with adjusted EBIT up 12.7% to EUR 158.8 million.

The backlog, measured at 30 September, stood at EUR 7.6 billion — a record for the group.

Guidance for the continuing operations was left untouched. Management still expects roughly EUR 1.4 billion in revenue for the full year, with adjusted EBIT landing between EUR 240 million and EUR 255 million.

Shares Ease as Analysts Hold Their Ground

Renk's stock weakened yesterday around the time the results landed. Press reports pointed to the modest pace of revenue growth and the adjusted guidance as possible drags, though no single trigger was identified.

The research desks were unmoved. DZ Bank kept its "Buy" rating and a fair value of EUR 56, with analyst Holger Schmidt writing that the third quarter was operationally convincing. Jefferies reaffirmed its own "Buy" call and a EUR 60 price target.

Submarine Work Anchors the Maritime Story

Naval business has become a central plank of the Renk case. On 29 October, the company said Renk Magnet-Motor had won an order from Saab tied to a major submarine programme run by a NATO member state. The same announcement flagged the group's maritime portfolio showcase at Euronaval in Paris, a fair running from 3 to 6 November.

Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

That sits alongside the acquisition of David Brown Defence from Stellex Capital Management, completed roughly two weeks ago. The business now trades as RENK UK Huddersfield and is earmarked as a competence centre for submarine propulsion systems. Renk did not disclose the commercial terms of the transaction.

Sagel will lay out the group's strategic direction at a hybrid Strategy Update in London on 8 December.
