Renk Keeps Buy Ratings Intact as Two Banks Cut Their Price Targets

Renk's stock rose 2.0% on Thursday, yet neither of the two analyst notes published on 23 October offers an obvious trigger for that move. What the notes do show is a widening gap between how brokers rate the shares and how much they think those shares are worth.

DZ Bank trimmed its fair value to EUR 56 from EUR 64 while leaving its buy recommendation in place. JPMorgan cut its target to EUR 50 from EUR 62 and stuck with Overweight. Both houses moved in the same direction: conviction on the equity unchanged, valuation marks lowered. For investors the distinction matters — a buy rating is not a promise that earlier price assumptions still hold.

A Portfolio Being Redrawn

The operational picture has shifted too. Roughly two weeks ago Renk agreed to sell its plain bearings business to Miba, a transaction still subject to the usual regulatory approvals. Alongside that deal the company recalibrated its guidance for continuing operations, and the new framing is central to any valuation work. The adjusted forecast belongs to the divestment and should not be read in isolation as a statement on underlying trading.

On that continuing basis Renk expects revenue of about EUR 1.4 billion for fiscal 2026, with adjusted EBIT of EUR 240 million to EUR 255 million. Both figures sit on the same forecast base.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?

Huddersfield: Capability First, Numbers Later

The UK side of the story carries its own caveats. Renk closed the acquisition of David Brown Defence on Wednesday, adding a Huddersfield site with around 530 employees that will trade as Renk UK Huddersfield and serve as a competence centre for submarine drives. Low-noise, low-vibration propulsion for submarines enters the Renk portfolio for the first time, alongside main marine drives and gear units and drive assemblies for wheeled and tracked vehicles.

Industrial logic, though, is not the same as booked profit. As trade publication Hansa reports, shared manufacturing capacity plus cooperation in purchasing, development and market access are meant to generate synergies. No figure has been put on those savings, and none can be derived from the described approach. Integration here spans procurement, product development and customer access — more than an organisational exercise, but still an unquantified one.

Reading the £700 Million Correctly

Renk puts order backlog and pipeline together at more than GBP 700 million for 2026 to 2030 across David Brown Defence. No split between firm orders and prospective business is disclosed, and the purchase price was not published. The total therefore describes both secured work and additional opportunity; it is neither a revenue contribution nor an earnings contribution, and it should not be mistaken for a fully confirmed backlog.

Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Strategically, the British unit broadens access to long-term naval programmes in the UK, Canada, Norway and Australia. The work includes support for Type 26 and an expanded offering for Challenger 2 and Challenger 3.

What 5 November Will Settle

Renk has scheduled its nine-month report and conference call for 5 November. That will put hard operating numbers next to freshly lowered valuation marks. The task for readers of the stock is to keep three things apart: confirmed business, possible future orders, and the expectations that a positive analyst rating quietly carries.
