Renk Keeps Its Buy Ratings as Targets Slide and Two Major Holders Trim Stakes
Published on 10/29/2026 at 03:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk investors have had a busy week of paperwork to sort through, and almost none of it concerns the day-to-day business of building gearboxes. Two heavyweight institutions trimmed their reported positions, three brokers cut their price targets while keeping their recommendations intact, and a divestment agreed in late October is still waiting on regulators. Each item lands on a different ledger, and conflating them would be a mistake.
Two filings, one threshold date
BlackRock's latest mandatory disclosure, filed Monday, put its total position in Renk at 4.05% of voting rights, down from 4.13%. UBS followed with a reduction of its own on Friday, from 5.06% to 4.71%. Both filings cite a threshold touch on 21 October.
The composition of those positions matters more than the headline percentages. BlackRock's stake split into 2.82% voting rights and 1.24% instruments, while UBS's exposure sat predominantly in instruments. Total positions bundle voting rights together with derivative instruments, so they are not the same thing as direct shareholdings. A decline in the combined figure should not be read as the sale of an equivalent block of stock — and the filings say nothing about either institution's motives. Nor do they offer evidence of a broad retreat by institutional money; the moves are modest in scale.
Brokers trim the yardstick, not the verdict
On the valuation side, the direction of travel has been uniformly downward — but only for the numbers, not the ratings. DZ Bank cut its fair value to €56 from €64 on Friday, according to media reports, while keeping its "Buy" rating. JPMorgan lowered its target to €50 from €62 on 22 October, also without downgrading. Barclays, roughly a week earlier, moved from €60 to €57 and stayed at "Overweight."
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
The distinction is the one that matters most for anyone reading the research: a lower target reflects a more cautious valuation, whereas an unchanged recommendation still expresses a fundamentally positive view. Barclays analyst Afonso Osorio, as reported by dpa-AFX, welcomed the strategic separation from the plain bearings business and considered moderately reduced estimates compatible with the investment case. Backing the restructuring, in other words, did not mean leaving earnings expectations untouched.
The Miba deal is signed, not closed
The operational backdrop is the sale of the plain bearings division to Austria's Miba AG, agreed on 22 October. The purchase price remains confidential, and completion is conditional on regulatory approvals — the transaction is contracted, but not yet finished.
Renk's revised guidance applies explicitly to continuing operations and cannot be read in isolation from the agreed separation. For the 2026 financial year the company projects revenue of around €1.4 billion and adjusted EBIT of €240 million to €255 million. The plain bearings business is to be reported as a discontinued operation from the fourth quarter onward.

What actually settles the argument
None of the disclosure filings or target changes establishes a causal link between the institutional position shifts and the analysts' valuation work; they describe separate things — reported voting positions on one hand, valuation judgments on the other. The more concrete reference points for judging the company remain the business outlook and the pending completion of the Miba sale.
Renk has scheduled its next update for 5 November, when it will publish the quarterly statement for the first nine months of 2026 and hold a conference call. That release, covering the business itself rather than the structure of reported holdings, will carry more weight than anything filed this week.
