Rheinmetall Opens UK Vibration Test Facility as Bundeswehr Adds 149 Rescue Stations

Rheinmetall is pressing ahead on two fronts at once — deepening its industrial footprint in Britain while its order book at home swells with fresh Bundeswehr business. The Düsseldorf-based defence group's UK subsidiary commissioned a new Vibration Test Facility on Thursday, a move designed to expand local testing capacity for military systems. The timing was no accident: it came just a day after the Team Wolf consortium, a joint venture between Rheinmetall and Mercedes-Benz UK, unveiled new vehicle models for armed forces at the DVD 2026 trade fair on Wednesday.
Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf Join the Pack
The two new arrivals — dubbed "Timber Wolf" and "Silver Wolf" — extend the existing "Wolf Pack" product family, which has been engineered around future mobility requirements for the British Army. The shared platform gives the Rheinmetall-Mercedes-Benz UK alliance a running start in bidding for procurement programmes aimed at modernising military vehicle fleets. Bringing vibration and load testing in-house on British soil should sharpen the group's response times on development and maintenance work for the UK armed forces, rather than routing such checks through facilities elsewhere.
Munitions Order Lands as Rescue Station Programme Grows
On the other side of the ledger, Rheinmetall disclosed on Monday that it had secured another major contract for 155mm artillery ammunition from an international customer. The deal carries a volume in the low triple-digit millions of euros, will be booked in the third quarter of 2026, and is slated for delivery in 2027.
That win followed a substantial Bundeswehr award. On 17 August, Rheinmetall reported an order for 149 additional mobile rescue stations worth more than EUR 500 million gross. Combined with a tranche booked back in July, the programme now covers 165 systems with a total value exceeding EUR 600 million.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rheinmetall?
The sales momentum underpins the expansion course the company laid out in its first-half figures. When it reported second-quarter 2026 numbers on 6 August, the group posted quarterly revenue.
North American Wins Add to the Pipeline
Rheinmetall has also notched operational successes across the Atlantic. The U.S. Marine Corps selected subsidiary American Rheinmetall to supply 12 autonomous unmanned ground vehicles of the Mission Master SP type. Separately, the U.S. Navy awarded the group a contract for replacement components for MSU-200NAV mobile ground launch units.
Shares Consolidate After a Bruising Year
In the markets, the stock steadied after earlier losses, closing Friday's Xetra session at EUR 1,016.00. That leaves the shares down 35 percent since the start of the year, a correction that followed the highs reached in the previous year. Over the past seven days, the paper has added 2.5 percent, giving the Düsseldorf group a market capitalisation of EUR 47.43 billion.
Investor dialogue moves to the foreground next week. Rheinmetall attends the Berenberg and Goldman Sachs German Corporate Conference on Wednesday, followed by the Baader Bank AG Investment Conference on Thursday. Market participants are likely to press management for fresh signals on the medium-term order pipeline and the group's ongoing international programmes. Official third-quarter figures are expected on 5 November, when it will become clearer how far the recent intake of orders has already fed through into the numbers.
