Rheinmetall's Order Book Swells as Sector Sentiment Weighs on the Stock
Published on 10/31/2026 at 13:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deRheinmetall shares slipped 2.0% to €1,032.60 at yesterday's close, caught in a broad downdraft across German defence names that also dragged RENK, HENSOLDT and TKMS lower. Media reports pointed to no company-specific trigger behind the move, instead tying the weakness to the wider sector backdrop and unease over possible peace talks involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States. Attention is also fixed on planned Ukraine discussions in Abu Dhabi in early November, with the upcoming earnings season adding to the cautious mood.
OCCAR Adds 69 More Schakal Vehicles
Against that softer market tone, the defence group's order pipeline kept expanding. On Thursday, Artec — the joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland — was awarded a further 69 Schakal wheeled infantry fighting vehicles by OCCAR. The Bundeswehr is set to receive 35 of the vehicles, while the Dutch armed forces will take the remaining 34. The additional booking lifts the total number of Schakal vehicles on order to 291.

On the technology front, Rheinmetall Air Defence and Silvus Technologies agreed yesterday to supply passive high-frequency sensors for integration into Rheinmetall's Skynex air-defence system and its Skymaster command platform. According to the company, the sensors are designed to detect threats without emitting signals of their own, covering both the air-defence hardware and the associated command layer.

Deutsche Bank Trims Target, Keeps Buy Rating
Analysts weighed in during the week, with Deutsche Bank Research cutting its price target on Rheinmetall from €1,800 to €1,650 on Tuesday. The brokerage stood by its "Buy" rating, so the lower target came without any change to its positive stance on the stock.
Arson Probe at Kassel-Calden Site
Away from orders and analyst notes, reports emerged yesterday of a fire at a construction site at Kassel-Calden airport, where three pieces of construction machinery burned. Police suspect arson, and the state security service is investigating a possible political motive — a line of inquiry, not a confirmed finding.
