Siemens wrapped up its purchase of several core businesses from Italy's MERMEC group on Wednesday, clearing the last regulatory hurdles and adding operations that generated roughly EUR 430 million in revenue during fiscal 2025. The acquired units, which employ about 1,700 people, will sit within Siemens Mobility.

The closing came on the same day the parent company's shares slipped 2.8%, caught in a broad global retreat from AI and semiconductor names. Reuters characterized the European weakness as part of a worldwide selloff driven by doubts over AI-related valuations.

Deutsche Bank Stays on the Sidelines

Deutsche Bank Research kept Siemens at "Hold" with a EUR 270 price target. Analyst Gael de-Bray pointed to mixed signals from recent competitor figures in the automation business, while flagging the company's still-robust order momentum in electrification.

Investors now turn to November 12, when Siemens releases fourth-quarter and preliminary fiscal 2026 results at 07:00 CET, followed by press and analyst calls.

Taiwan Mandate Adds to Mobility's Pipeline

Siemens Mobility also booked fresh work from ST Engineering: a contract to equip two metro lines in Taoyuan, Taiwan, with signaling and control technology. The lines are slated for fully automated GoA4 operation, with service expected to begin around the mid-2030s.

The MERMEC seller, meanwhile, was confirmed as the vendor of the businesses now folded into Siemens Mobility.

Healthineers Trims Its Targets

On the brand front, Siemens Healthineers said it will shorten its name to Healthineers once the planned spin-off from Siemens is complete. The rebrand is set to start in 2027 and roll out over three years, subject to shareholder approval at both companies' annual meetings in February 2027. Siemens said the joint announcement also reinforces its positioning as an industrial AI company.

For fiscal 2026/27, Healthineers guided to comparable revenue growth of 4.0–5.0% and adjusted earnings per share of EUR 2.20 to 2.40 — below the EUR 2.42 posted in fiscal 2026. In the year just ended, comparable revenue growth reached 4.0% and the adjusted EBIT margin came in at 16.2%.

Rail Projects Advance on Two Fronts

Siemens Mobility and Lufthansa Technik Defense signed a letter of intent on Tuesday to jointly develop a patient transport train for military evacuations and civilian disaster relief, designed to carry more than 150 injured or ill passengers.

A day earlier, Pune Metro Line 3 began commercial passenger service following its official opening. Siemens supplied signaling and electrification systems for the line, along with a ten-year maintenance contract covering that equipment.
