Siemens Energy is riding a wave of grid infrastructure spending that has pushed its order backlog to 162 billion euros, with the Munich-based energy technology group simultaneously advancing a major corporate restructuring and securing fresh offshore contracts.

The stock traded at 139.98 euros on the day of the order book disclosure, down 0.8%, as investors weighed a bulging pipeline against a challenging technical setup. On a separate session, shares edged up 0.4% to 141.62 euros following news of the LanWin3 contract award.

Grid Expansion and AI Demand Fill the Pipeline

The company's operational momentum stems largely from the buildout of transmission networks, which is receiving an additional tailwind from the power consumption demands of data centers and artificial intelligence. Third-quarter order intake reached 17.9 billion euros, while quarterly revenue climbed 18.5% to 11.4 billion euros.

Profitability is also improving, with wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa having returned to profit. Management is targeting full-year revenue growth of 14% to 16%, alongside an adjusted margin in the 10% to 12% range.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?

Large-scale projects are reinforcing long-term capacity utilization. Among them is the LanWin3 high-voltage direct current converter platform for transmission system operator 50Hertz in the North Sea. The contract was awarded to a consortium of NSORe and Siemens Energy, with the Munich company responsible for supplying the high-voltage components for the converter station. Such platforms are essential for converting offshore wind power into direct current and transporting it ashore with minimal losses.

The grid connection business has been particularly active. Just a day before the LanWin3 announcement, the company was pushing forward with offshore grid connection work in Rostock alongside Neptun Werft and partner Smulders. Siemens Energy is positioning itself as a technical equipment supplier for turnkey components in a market facing enormous investment programs driven by renewable energy expansion.

Supervisory Board Greenlights ToI Spin-Off

Alongside its operational order growth, management is pressing ahead with a structural overhaul. On August 25, the supervisory board approved the spin-off of the "Transformation of Industry" (ToI) division, which bundles the steam turbine and hydrogen businesses. That unit generated revenue of 5.7 billion euros in fiscal year 2025 and employs roughly 17,000 people. The move is intended to reduce complexity in the group's portfolio.

Chart Resistance Keeps Traders Cautious

Despite the fundamental progress, the stock's technical picture remains mixed. After a prior correction phase, the shares are attempting to recover ground, but a sustainable trend reversal hinges on clearing long-term indicators. The stock currently sits 8.3% below its 200-day moving average of 152.66 euros. Only a sustained break above that closely watched threshold would deliver the technical signal for a continuation of the broader uptrend. Until such a breakout materializes, a wait-and-see stance dominates among market participants — even with record orders in hand.

Analysts have responded positively to the strategic direction, and despite short-term price fluctuations in recent weeks, Siemens Energy's overall market trend remains stable.
