Sivers Semiconductors: LiDAR Order Pipeline and a Fading Short Bet Behind Friday's 11% Jump
Published on 11/08/2026 at 17:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deSivers Semiconductors shares climbed 11% on Friday to close at €1.47, catching a lift as semiconductor stocks recovered from the previous session's technology selloff. Media reports pointed to a sector-wide rebound after the prior day's losses, with investors reassessing their worries about tighter regulation of artificial intelligence. The advance coincided with that broader recovery in AI and chip names rather than with any fresh company announcement.
Two Sigma Slips Below the Disclosure Line
One confirmed, company-specific development landed the same day. According to the register kept by Sweden's financial regulator, Finansinspektionen, Two Sigma Investments' disclosed net short position in Sivers fell below the 0.5% threshold for public reporting on Friday. As recently as Wednesday, the position had been reported at 0.71%. With the threshold crossed, Two Sigma no longer appears among Sivers' publicly disclosed short sellers.
The filing documents a reduction below the reporting line — not a full exit from the net short position, which the disclosure does not confirm. No causal link between the position cut and the share-price gain has been established.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Sivers Semiconductors?
Separately, the Finansinspektionen register had put the aggregate of all publicly disclosed net short positions in Sivers at 6.32% for Thursday. That figure reflects the state of play before Friday's threshold-crossing by Two Sigma and therefore does not capture the subsequently published level of that same position.
LiDAR Customer Triggers Production Orders
On the operating side, Sivers disclosed roughly two weeks ago that a strategic LiDAR customer had placed production orders. Deliveries under those orders are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to the company. Sivers also held out the prospect of a move into production in 2027 for the associated automotive and industrial sensor programs — a distinction between when shipments are due to start and when those programs are expected to reach volume manufacturing.
The orders come from a strategic customer, per the company, and cover applications spanning vehicles as well as industrial sensing.
Shareholders Back Option Pool and Auditor
At an extraordinary general meeting held around the same time, investors approved a long-term employee incentive program covering up to 7.28 million options — the maximum size of the plan as resolved. The same meeting granted authorizations tied to Series C shares and to transfers covering social-security contributions. Shareholders also signed off on the audit: Ernst & Young AB was appointed as auditor.
