Strategy Adds 950 Bitcoin While Doubling Down on STRC Buybacks
Published on 09/21/2026 at 20:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deStrategy Inc. has resumed its Bitcoin accumulation after a brief pause, disclosing a purchase of 950 coins for $75.7 million in a mandatory SEC filing released Monday. The move, which coincided with a broader crypto rally, was funded entirely from existing dollar holdings rather than fresh share issuance.
The company's stock responded positively to the news. In German trading, shares climbed 8.6% to EUR 145.50, building on momentum that has lifted the equity by 27.1% since a major transaction roughly three weeks ago.
No ATM Sales, Cash-Funded Purchase
What stands out about the latest transactions, covering the period from September 14 to 20, is how Strategy chose to pay for them. The company made no use of its existing at-the-market equity program during that window, instead drawing down its dollar reserves.
The liquid USD balance fell to $1.05 billion as a result. A further $57.4 million was taken from a separate dollar reserve to cover interest obligations and preferred shareholder dividends. After that withdrawal, the reserve stands at $5.04 billion, leaving Strategy with combined cash and reserves of $6.09 billion.
Bitcoin Holdings Reach 846,000
The latest acquisition brings Strategy's total Bitcoin portfolio to 846,000 units. Cumulatively, the company has spent approximately $63.80 billion on its holdings, implying an average cost of $75,416 per coin including fees. The 950 newly acquired units were purchased at an average price of $79,670.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Strategy Inc.?
With the cryptocurrency recently breaking above the $85,000 mark, Strategy is sitting on paper gains exceeding $8 billion.
STRC Repurchases Outpace Bitcoin Spending
More than double the Bitcoin investment went toward the company's digital credit buyback program last week. Strategy repurchased 1,771,238 STRC preferred shares, a move aimed at steering the instrument's price back toward its par value.
The company retains substantial room for further capital actions. An additional $875.1 million remains available for preferred stock repurchases, while the separate common stock buyback program still carries a full $1 billion authorization.
Saylor's Weekend Signal Preceded Monday's Filing
The official disclosure followed a familiar pattern. Michael Saylor, Chair of Strategy Inc., posted the company's accumulation chart on X on Sunday, marking completed transactions with orange dots as is customary. Alongside the caption "A little more orange," Saylor attached the note "A good time to add more dots."
Such weekend posts have repeatedly preceded formal Monday filings. The signals came as the digital currency gathered upward momentum last week, and the market took notice—shares had already risen 7.4% to EUR 143.96 earlier in the day.
A Two-Week Buying Hiatus
Before this latest purchase, Strategy had temporarily stepped back from the crypto market. SEC filings showed neither purchases nor sales of Bitcoin between September 8 and 13, with holdings unchanged at 845,050 units. The prior week, spanning August 31 to September 7, had likewise seen no digital currency transactions.
Capital was instead directed toward the company's own capital structure. During the September 8–13 period, Strategy repurchased 1,420,467 STRC preferred shares for $139.3 million, following $176.3 million spent on similar repurchases in the preceding seven days.
The board had previously greenlit an expansion of these operations, raising the digital credit securities buyback program from $1.0 billion to $2.0 billion. As of the September 7 record date, $1.19 billion remained available under that authorization.

Liquidity Buffer Intact
Strategy's liquidity position remains solid. On September 13, the company reported a USD reserve of $5.10 billion alongside $1.30 billion in cash—a cushion that gives the firm room to respond flexibly to crypto market developments.
For the full 845,050-coin portfolio held at that point, Strategy had spent $63.73 billion, translating to an average acquisition cost of $75,412 per unit.
