TKMS Slips With Defence Peers as Record €20.1 Billion Order Book Takes Centre Stage
Published on 10/24/2026 at 16:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deTKMS closed the session down 2.2%, a move that landed squarely inside a soft day for European defence names rather than reflecting anything specific to the shipbuilder. Reuters put the sector's decline at 3.8%, tracing the pullback to losses in Safran following the French group's business figures. The news agency drew no direct link between that trigger and TKMS.
That distinction matters. The sector weakness supplies the market backdrop against which TKMS shares softened, but it does not explain the company's own price action.
Management Points to Profitable Growth
At the company level, the operating story was the focus on Thursday. According to media reports, the chief executive said profitable growth would continue and flagged an order backlog of €20.1 billion — a record for the group.
The message and the market mood therefore sit side by side. A hefty order book supports the business outlook, though it does not yet answer how those contracts will convert into revenue, earnings and cash flow.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying TKMS?
Brokers Agree on the Rating, Not the Reasoning
Deutsche Bank Research kept its "Buy" call and lifted its price target to €115 from €112. Analyst Sriram Krishnan expects a strong finish to the 2025/26 financial year on both order intake and operating performance.
Bernstein Research, for its part, maintained its "Outperform" rating. Analyst Adrien Rabier anchored that stance on reduced liquidity assumptions.
The split is one of emphasis: operating confidence on one side, more cautious cash expectations on the other. Neither the higher target nor the day's decline cancels the other out — they speak to different things, the analysts' valuation view and the actual price set by the market.
Frigate Approval and an IPO Award
Two further items round out the picture. In October, the budget committee of the German Bundestag gave the green light for the procurement of four additional MEKO A-200 DEU frigates, a decision TKMS welcomed for the German Navy. That approval covers a concrete procurement project, but a go-ahead is not the same as booked revenue or profit, and it should not be read straight through to the bottom line.
TKMS also reported on Thursday an award for its stock market listing at the IPO Night — recognition of its capital markets debut rather than its operating business.
TKMS at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
December 7 as the Reckoning
The annual results for 2025/26 are scheduled for release on December 7, giving the next point at which analysts' expectations can be checked against reported figures.
The takeaway: a share price decline in a weak sector sits opposite a reported record backlog and upbeat operating forecasts. What ultimately tests whether that optimism holds up is the numbers — not the sector move alone.
