Vertiv's Blockbuster Quarter Meets a Divided Street
Published on 11/07/2026 at 16:43 | Editorial boerse-global.deVertiv has rarely offered investors such a clean test of a single proposition: can blistering order growth survive contact with a market that has started to question the economics of the AI buildout? The company's latest quarter makes the bullish case loudly. Two analysts on opposite sides of the ledger make the debate equally loud.
The stock has been swept along by the wider mood. Vertiv climbed 4.1% as AI-linked names staged a partial recovery from earlier weekly losses, a rebound AP attributed to a broader countermovement. The pressure that preceded it, according to the same reporting, stemmed from worries about a potentially slower pace of data-center construction, financing costs and valuations—three distinct concerns that converge on one question: under what conditions does AI infrastructure spending still pay?
The order book speaks first
Vertiv's own numbers give that question a hard edge. On October 28 the company reported third-quarter 2026 net sales of $4,313 million, up 61% year over year. Organic orders, meanwhile, more than doubled—growth that outpaced the top line and offers the clearest signal of whether expansion extends beyond revenue already booked.
Profitability kept pace. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 78% to $2.21. Orders and earnings together give the optimistic reading real substance, provided the backlog converts into profitable business rather than sitting on the books.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vertiv?
Roughly two weeks ago Vertiv raised its full-year outlook. For 2026 management now points to a net sales midpoint of $14,650 million and adjusted diluted EPS of $7.15—a bar the company has set for itself and must now clear operationally.
Two analysts, two directions
Evercore ISI weighed in on Thursday, keeping its Buy rating while trimming its price target to $325 from $375. The combination is telling: conviction in the business intact, but a tighter valuation framework around the growth investors are being asked to pay for.
GLJ Research took the opposite tack on Monday, reaffirming a Sell rating and nudging its target down to $187 from $188. The gap between the two houses is no rounding error—it frames the entire argument over what multiple Vertiv's order momentum deserves.
Securing the supply side
Growth of this magnitude also depends on being able to build. On Wednesday Vertiv announced a three-year strategic supply agreement with Infineon, designed to secure long-term access to silicon and silicon-carbide power components. The deal covers Vertiv's global power portfolio, including next-generation DC systems and components for its 800-VDC systems. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Vertiv at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Read plainly, the pact is about delivery continuity as production scales—matching demand with the ability to ship. It adds a supply-chain plank to a growth story that has so far rested on orders and guidance.
What remains is execution. The order book is the strongest card Vertiv holds; converting it into revenue and earnings is how that card gets played. Between a raised forecast and a Street split from $187 to $325, the next few quarters will settle which side read the backlog correctly.
