Vertiv's Order Book Doubled. Wall Street Can't Agree on What That's Worth
Published on 11/07/2026 at 17:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deVertiv's stock climbed 4.1% on Friday, catching the tailwind of a broader rebound in AI infrastructure names. The move followed a two-day selloff across the sector, and it landed alongside a pair of analyst calls that point in opposite directions.
The split is stark. Bernstein reaffirmed its "Outperform" rating on Monday with a $376 price target, arguing that political risks to U.S. data center construction are smaller than the market had feared. GLJ Research, on the same day, trimmed its target from $188 to $187 and kept its sell rating in place. Evercore ISI's Amit Daryanani, meanwhile, reiterated his buy call on Thursday while cutting his target to $325 from $375.
That last combination — a positive rating paired with a lower target — may say more about the stock than the headline recommendation alone. It suggests a stricter valuation yardstick even among the bulls, one that hinges on whether Vertiv can keep delivering on expectations.
The Numbers Behind the Debate
The fundamental backdrop is hard to argue with. Vertiv reported third-quarter 2026 net revenue of $4.31 billion on October 28, up 61% year over year. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 78% to $2.21. Organic orders more than doubled compared with the prior-year period.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vertiv?
Roughly two weeks ago, the company also raised its full-year 2026 revenue outlook. Management now expects net sales of between $14.45 billion and $14.85 billion.
Those figures give the bulls plenty of ammunition. The gap between order intake and realized revenue is where the optimistic case will ultimately be tested — strong bookings only matter if they convert into sustained sales growth.
Securing the Supply Chain
Vertiv also moved to shore up the hardware side of its growth plans. The company announced a three-year strategic supply agreement with Infineon Technologies AG covering power semiconductors made from silicon and silicon carbide. The deal includes components for Vertiv's next generation of 800-VDC power supply systems.
For a business trying to convert a surging order book into shipped product, secured access to critical components is a practical prerequisite rather than a headline flourish.

What to Watch
The next confirmed date on the calendar is Vertiv's participation in Baird's Global Industrial Conference on November 10, 2026.
Between now and then, the competing analyst views frame the central question for investors. The AI infrastructure theme can carry a stock in the short run, but a durable bull case needs sustained demand and the operational capacity to serve it. The business figures make that argument; the recent round of target revisions counsels discipline on valuation. For now, the operational case carries more weight — provided Vertiv turns its order momentum into results and meets its raised guidance.
