XRP's Demand Question: Fund Outflows, Chart Warnings and the Partnership Mirage

A single week has flipped the narrative on XRP's fund demand. US spot ETFs tracking the token recorded net outflows of $1.84 million in the week ended Friday, snapping a run of 13 consecutive weeks of net inflows, according to media reports. The reversal lands at an awkward moment — just as Ripple and the XRP Ledger have been rolling out partnership announcements at a steady clip.

That timing is precisely the trap for investors. A flurry of deals does not translate automatically into fresh buying pressure for XRP itself, and the fund data offers its own, separate signal on demand. Reading the two together requires care.

Not Every Deal Touches the Token

Take the announcements one by one. The October 13 partnership between Ripple and Privy covers programmable wallets for the XRP Ledger to be embedded in applications. These explicitly support XRP, RLUSD and other assets on the ledger — so the token is genuinely in scope, not just stablecoin plumbing. Still, the deal describes access through applications; it commits no one to actually acquire tokens.

Cross River Bank's Friday announcement points elsewhere. The bank intends to integrate Ripple's RLUSD on the XRP Ledger into its core banking platform, letting eligible fintech clients use RLUSD payments via an API. The arrangement concerns settlement in RLUSD and carries no obligation to use XRP.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

The same pattern holds for two other recent moves. Ripple and DriveWealth disclosed on October 14 a partnership that begins with RLUSD settlement on the investment platform in Europe, with a US expansion flagged as a possibility. And on October 12, Standard Chartered launched institutional custody of RLUSD through its branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre. Neither constitutes a reported purchase of XRP.

The distinction matters because technical support creates a use case — it is not evidence of how much users will actually adopt it. Each application has to be judged on its own terms.

The Chart Case for $1

Price watchers are framing the downside just as carefully. Analyst ChartNerd warns of a possible slide to $1 by the end of 2026, but presents it as a conditional risk scenario rather than an inevitable path. His local support zone sits between $1.25 and $1.30. A weekly close above $1.34 would undermine his bearish view — giving him a concrete trigger for reassessment alongside the downside risk.

A short-term bounce alone would not satisfy him. While XRP stays below key technical hurdles and its weekly moving average, any recovery could prove fleeting — a very different proposition from a confirmed bottom. Should support hold, he identifies major resistance at $1.45, with his base case placing the cycle low near $0.98. Deeper targets, in his view, are less likely.

A Second Analyst, a Similar Framework

Ali Martinez offered a more cautious counterpoint a day earlier. He read unusually large transfer values on the XRP Ledger as a possible bottom signal, while stressing that transferred coin value does not prove net buying pressure. Heavy network activity and added market demand, in other words, are not the same thing.

Martinez also attaches conditions to his recovery thesis: support at $1.25 would need to hold, and a sustained break above $1.56 could, in his assessment, open the way toward $2.

XRP at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The two views diverge less than their targets suggest. Both tie a positive outlook to confirmed price levels; the real difference is how heavily they weight the risk of further declines.

What Would Actually Confirm a Turn

For now, neither the fund flows nor the ledger transfers offer an all-clear. One negative week does not establish a lasting shift in ETF demand, just as large transfers do not prove a durable pickup in buying. The partnerships, meanwhile, expand announced access and usage — but whether that feeds through to additional XRP demand has to be assessed application by application.

What counts is confirmation. If support holds, a bottoming formation remains possible. If the cited resistance levels stay intact, ChartNerd's warning about a merely temporary recovery stays relevant.
