Results and outlook remain in focus
Western Digital's fiscal first quarter ended October 2, 2026. The company's release, carried in a MarketWatch SEC filing, reported revenue of USD 4.38 billion, up 55% year over year. GAAP gross margin was 57.8%, while non-GAAP gross margin reached 58.1%. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share rose 161% to USD 4.64.
Management expects fiscal second-quarter revenue of USD 5.1 billion at the midpoint of a USD 100 million range. The outlook also calls for a non-GAAP gross margin of 60% to 61% and diluted earnings per share of USD 5.80 plus or minus USD 0.20. The guidance is non-GAAP and therefore is not directly comparable with GAAP earnings.
The board declared a quarterly dividend of USD 0.175 per share, payable December 17 to shareholders of record on December 4. The increase restores a higher cash return while storage demand and pricing remain central to the earnings outlook.
The broader US market backdrop is part of the setup for storage shares alongside the S&P 500.
