Antimony Resources: US Loan Sparks Sector Rally as Bald Hill Drilling Nears Pivotal Resource Estimate

A $2.9 billion signal from Washington has reshuffled the deck for North American antimony miners. On May 27, the US Export-Import Bank approved a loan of that size for an antimony project in Idaho, drawn from the "Make More in America Initiative" and aimed at securing minerals critical for defense and high-tech supply chains. For small Canadian explorer Antimony Resources, the decision is being read as a sector-wide endorsement, providing a blueprint for projects like its Bald Hill deposit in New Brunswick to attract similar backing.

The stock’s reaction was anything but straightforward. It rallied 5.6% over the final week of May, but the ride was choppy. Intraday swings saw the shares lose roughly 18% from their weekly peak, closing at $0.511 on May 28 — a 10% decline on that single day alone. Even with the weekly gain, the equity remains about 40% below its all-time high of C$1.65 reached in March, though the one-year return still stands at a breathtaking 880%.

No fresh corporate news triggered the late-May dip. The most recent announcements from Antimony Resources — dated May 7, 12, and 13 — all centered on its Bald Hill drill program. Those results have been encouraging: intercepts of up to 26.9% antimony in stibnite-bearing core, with intervals as long as 15 meters. The standout hole, BH-26-10, targeted deeper portions of the main zone. The company cautions that those are drilled lengths; true widths are estimated at 65–70% of the reported numbers.

A 19,000-meter follow-up campaign is now underway, with 13,000 meters allocated to the main zone and 6,000 meters probing new targets such as Marcus and BH Central. The project supports a conceptual exploration target of roughly 2.7 million tonnes grading between 3% and 4% antimony. The next big catalyst is a maiden NI 43-101 resource estimate, being prepared by SRK Consultants. The market is waiting for that document to reassess Bald Hill’s worth.

On the financial front, Antimony Resources remains a classic explorer. It reported no revenue for the six months through February 2026, a net loss of C$10.33 million, and a cash position of C$8.24 million. Management has teed up additional funding through private placements, a standard approach for juniors at this stage.

The macro backdrop only strengthens the case. Antimony now trades at roughly $51.80 per kilogram, up 172% since the start of 2024 despite a slight pullback this year. China controls at least 60% of global supply and has extended its export restrictions until November 2026, while limiting export licenses to just 11 companies. The US has no meaningful domestic antimony production. New Brunswick, meanwhile, has launched its own critical-minerals strategy and signaled active support for projects like Bald Hill, potentially speeding up permitting.

Analysts have taken notice. A recent initiation on Antimony Resources carries a price target of C$3.00, built on the strategic leverage of Canadian assets in a supply chain Washington is deliberately strengthening. With a market cap of roughly C$75 million and an enterprise value of C$67 million, the stock is priced for the resource estimate to confirm what the drill core has been showing. Until that report lands, thin trading may keep the shares susceptible to sharp swings — but the structural forces pushing antimony higher show no signs of easing.
