Siemens Energy's Record Orders and Analyst Stampede Signal Inflection Point for Grid Giant

Siemens Energy's shares surge 100% in a year as record €17.7B orders and rising profit targets underscore global grid expansion, though wind unit Gamesa remains a concern.

Siemens Energy has delivered a rare combination for investors: a share price that has more than doubled over the past twelve months, yet analysts keep raising their targets. The catalyst is a deluge of new business that underscores the depth of the global grid build-out.

The company booked a record €17.7 billion in orders in its second fiscal quarter, while revenue climbed to €10.29 billion. Net profit came in at €835 million, and earnings per share jumped to €0.89 from €0.50 a year earlier. Operating profit before special items surged to €1.16 billion, reflecting a sharp improvement in cost structure.

Jefferies was the latest to pull its pencil higher, raising the price target from €164 to €215 on Monday and reiterating a "Buy" rating. Analyst Lucas Ferhani pointed to sustained momentum in the grid business and gas turbines, where order intake has consistently beaten expectations. The upgrade follows a pattern: JPMorgan sits at €225, Goldman Sachs at €212, and both Deutsche Bank and Berenberg have targets of €200.

The strength is not just a German story. Rival GE Vernova lifted its full-year 2026 guidance after generating free cash flow of $4.8 billion in its opening quarter — matching the prior year's total. That underlines a global upgrade cycle for power infrastructure that is boosting everybody in the sector.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?

Siemens Energy's order backlog now stands at a hefty €154 billion, with a book-to-bill ratio of 1.72. That visibility has allowed management to raise its full-year outlook: revenue growth is expected to land between 14 and 16 percent, and net profit should surpass €4 billion.

The transformation has not gone unnoticed among index-heavy investors. With a market capitalisation of around €144.34 billion, Siemens Energy carries a 7.12 percent weighting in the DAX, placing it among the index's top heavyweights.

Yet the investment thesis still hinges on one fragile component: Siemens Gamesa. The wind turbine subsidiary remains the most vulnerable point in the story. Early signs of operational improvement are encouraging, but the market has been burned before. Management points to a margin before special items of 10 to 12 percent this year, but a sustained recovery over several quarters has yet to be established.

Monday's share price reaction was telling. The stock climbed nearly 4 percent to €175.56, shaking off the profit-taking seen in the prior week. That leaves the shares well above their 50-day moving average of €163.50, but still below the year's high of €188.

Siemens Energy at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Adding to the momentum, Siemens Energy plans to accelerate its ongoing share buyback programme, with up to €3 billion in play until the end of fiscal 2026. A supportive chart pattern, where support around €165 held, suggests the year high could soon come into focus.

For now, the market is pricing in a high degree of confidence. The next leg higher will depend on whether strong order flows and Gamesa's stabilisation continue to translate into visible operational delivery.
