Eric Clapton will mark The Road to Escondido’s 20th anniversary with an enhanced edition on 20 November 2026. The release revisits his collaboration with J.J. Cale and adds newly issued studio and live material.
Eric Clapton and J.J. Cale add new material to Escondido
The Road to Escondido: Enhanced Edition will arrive through Bushbranch/Surfdog Records. The official release details confirm three previously unreleased songs from the original recording sessions.
The edition also includes three live tracks from Live in San Diego and new liner notes. Its release on 20 November 2026 gives the collaborative project an expanded presentation for listeners who know the original album.
The enhanced edition extends Eric Clapton’s official catalogue
The project connects Clapton’s solo catalogue with J.J. Cale’s songwriting and recording legacy. Their partnership is represented here through studio performances, live recordings and additional notes surrounding the album.
Clapton’s official music catalogue lists the enhanced edition alongside releases including Unplugged, Journeyman and Meanwhile. The new set therefore sits within a catalogue that spans solo albums, collaborations, live recordings and archival projects.
Roll On leads the expanded Road to Escondido tracklist
The additional studio material includes Wrong No More, I Got To Find My Baby and Roll On. The latter features Billy Preston and John Mayer alongside Clapton and Cale.
The live additions are Who Am I Telling You?, Anyway the Wind Blows and Don’t Cry Sister. Together, the six additions broaden the edition beyond the original studio sequence while retaining the collaboration at its centre.
