Iron Maiden will release a limited 40th-anniversary edition of Somewhere in Time on 4 December 2026. The oxblood pressing anchors two catalogue releases announced by the band, with a nine-album vinyl box set following on 11 December 2026.
Iron Maiden’s anniversary vinyl arrives in December
The band’s official anniversary announcement describes the Somewhere in Time reissue as a limited Oxblood colour vinyl edition. It uses the 2015 audio remastering, and a special Amazon variant includes an exclusive full-sleeve poster.
The same announcement sets 11 December 2026 for the 50th Anniversary Studio Album Collection, Part One: 1980-1992. The two releases place the standalone album edition one week before a box set covering the band’s first nine studio albums. A catalogue listing identifies the first release as a vinyl LP and names BMG as its label, with the 4 December 2026 date.
Iron Maiden link the release to their heavy metal history
Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in East London by bassist Steve Harris. The group’s BBC biography identifies the band as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and records their formation in 1975.
The December releases reflect both the band’s catalogue and its 50th-anniversary programme. Somewhere in Time is the sixth studio album named in Iron Maiden’s announcement, while the collection places it alongside eight other records from the group’s early studio catalogue.
The nine-album box set spans Iron Maiden’s early catalogue
The 50th Anniversary Studio Album Collection, Part One: 1980-1992 contains nine studio albums on vinyl. The listed titles are Iron Maiden, Killers, The Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, No Prayer For The Dying and Fear Of The Dark.
The box set uses different vinyl colours across the collection, including red and gold for Iron Maiden, silver for The Number Of The Beast and oxblood for Somewhere In Time. Fear Of The Dark is listed as a two-LP set with blue and yellow vinyl.
