Olivia Rodrigo released the remix Expectations (feat. Chappell Roan) on 15 October 2026. The single joined Rodrigo with Chappell Roan and arrived alongside a music video.
Expectations brings Chappell Roan into Rodrigo’s album world
The new version revisits the album track with a guest vocal from Chappell Roan. People’s launch account says the accompanying video appeared on 15 October 2026 and places both singers in a retro game-show setting.
The remix is Roan’s first feature, while Dan Nigro produced the new arrangement. Release details list digital, limited 7-inch vinyl, CD and cassette editions.
Olivia Rodrigo’s pop catalogue frames the new collaboration
The collaboration sits within a pop catalogue that also draws on folk and alternative-rock influences. The Pitchfork catalogue places her work in Pop/R&B and lists three studio albums.
Her first two records, SOUR and GUTS, came before you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, the album containing the original Expectations. A Britannica biography records three Grammy wins for Rodrigo.
How the Expectations remix expands the album track
The remix changes the role of Expectations without replacing its album identity. The song remains attached to the third studio album, while Roan’s feature creates a separate version for the single.
The video adds David Byrne as host of its fictional game show, with Bardia Zeinali directing. Nigro’s production keeps the new version connected to Rodrigo’s songwriting and production circle.
